BREAKING: Helios Underwriting – more evidence of why its shares should be suspended
In my recent article “BREAKING: Helios Underwriting – why its AIM shares should be suspended NOW after howling schoolboy accounting blunder” I explained why Helios (HUW), which underwrites insurance at Lloyd’s of London, had a major issue. The issue was that it had prepared its accounts for the six months ended 30 June 2023 under UK GAAP as opposed to IFRS as required by the AIM listing rule paragraph 19. Helios explained the reasons for this as follows:- By Tom Winnifrith, the Sheriff of AIM |

Folks will call me sexist for saying this but Sosandar’s joint CEO Julie Lavington sounds very, very silly
Ms. Lavington is quoted in the ghastly Mail on Sunday as saying “Our share price is the same as when we turned over £1 million – except now we're turning over £40 million. It's frustrating.”. Where to start? It must be rather worrying for those still owning these shares that she has such an appalling grasp of how markets work. It is enough to turn a man to drink.- By Tom Winnifrith |

The View From The Montana Log-Cabin As Gold Tests $2,000
Gold closed the week at $1992 – a shade below the psychologically important $2,000, having been a shade above it last week. The Fed held interest rates, as did the useless Andrew Bailey’s Bank of England, and US Treasury yields retreated.- By Nigel Somerville |

Visual Aid: How Long Does it Take Unicorns to Exit?
Food and agriculture have a significant impact on our planet, particularly in terms of carbon emissions, water withdrawals, and land use. To visualize how different food items contribute to this environmental impact, the graphic below ranks foods based on their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and water withdrawals, using data from Poore and Nemecek and Our World in Data.

The ShareProphets Sunday Pub Quiz #213
Last week I gave a wrong answer for the satirical programme with puppets. Of course it was Spitting Image, of which almost everyone got right but were not credited. Give yourself an extra point this week. Tom asks me if the theory that I make an error in the answer every week deliberately is true. Verily, the real answer is ...

CAP-XX – AGM updates, cash and board concerns?…
Previously writing on company describing itself as “a world leader in the design and manufacture of supercapacitors and energy management systems” CAP-XX (CPX), in August with the shares down to 1.45p I concluded that I remained sceptical of both the current trading prospects and financial position. What now of AGM-related updates from the company, with the shares now at 0.925p?

Shareholders Have More Power than We Think, so Let's Get Ethical
Hello Share Fanciers. It’s always been a contention of this fossilised punter that a shareholder has more power to change things than a voter, even in a democratic country like ours. And as such we should use that power responsibly. Which brings me to the difficult question of ethical investing.- By Malcolm Stacey |

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: It's beer & popcorn time c/o Doc Holliday, Eurasia Mining and Gerry "the arse" Brandon
I start with NatWest (NWG) and another part of the bonkers legacy of disgraced trougher Alison Rose then I look at Eurasia Mining (EUA), NightCap (NGHT), More Acquisitions (TMOR), Cellular Goods (CBX), Microsaic (MSYS) - another kill for the Sheriff - and finally I have a long look at Invinity (IES) which is, I think, a compelling short.- By Tom Winnifrith |

Surface Transforms – having “overcome” previously-reported technical problems…now further such problems! And how’s the balance sheet liquidity now?
Previously writing on ceramic brake disc materials company Surface Transforms (SCE), in January with the shares at 36p I noted it “again… reporting a production problem impacting our previous guidance” and that I looked for some consistent delivery before re-considering prior caution. What then of today a “trading update” and the shares currently down to 16p in response?

Recipients of this letter from Harcus Parker are told it is private and confidential and must not be passed on. Natch' it has therefore found its way to me within 24 hours. Kefi Gold & Copper – quarterly update, “big milestone” share price catalyst now looking very imminent
Kefi Gold & Copper (KEFI) has issued a quarterly update including re-emphasising that it is progressing towards the big milestone “to trigger before the end of this year the first stage of the Tulu Kapi gold project launch”. Letter to AIM Regulation: Force Nightcap & Sarah Willingham to Fess to the grim news as per Rule 11
Shares in Nightcap (NGHT) the bars chain being run into the ground by Dragon’s Den star Sarah Willingham are sliding again to a new all time low of just 5.75p. Almost certainly the company’s trading so far this financial year (starting July 3) has been below forecast and so in not ‘fessing to that I believe it has breached AIM Rules 10 and 11. I have written to the Oxymorons at AIM Regulation, demanding that they force a ‘fess up RNS.- By Tom Winnifrith, the Sheriff of AIM |
