I got into a cab at 5 AM at the Welsh Hovel not wearing a mask. At Chester train station nobody batted an eyelid. I changed trains at Crewe and again nobody cared. Most folks on the train to Euston were not wearing face nappies. The Heathrow Express is out of action so I took a cab from Euston to Heathrow and wandered into the building still maskless. But then I went to check in a 20kg bag full of books which I am moving to the Greek Hovel.
The woman demanded I put on a mask. I said I was exempt. She said that without proof of that I would not be allowed on the flight so my bag would be marked as standby. I protested that she was not allowed under UK law to do this but she and her superior stood firm. So I put on a face nappy. It got worse. I have contacted the press office at Heathrow asking 4 questions and describing what has gone on. My slightly redacted email is below. I shall let you know if there is a response.
Hi.
I edit ShareProphets.com a website that exposes fraud. But today I am at Heathrow as a passenger
As I tried to check my bag in I was informed that this would not happen if I was not wearing a mask. I said I was exempt.
I was told by the women at checkin that this meant they could not check me in. The demanded to see proof of exemption. This is something you cannot do under UK law but they insisted they could.
I relented bought a mask and got checked in.
Q1. Why are you breaking the law and causing real trauma for passengers?
Walking towards security after scanning my pass (like everyone else without a mask) I was ordered to put my mask on by one of your staff. I said exempt and that was UK law. He said “Heathrow has its own laws, its own bye-laws”.
Q2. Is this true? If not, why are your staff lying?
I am now sitting in a restaurant where nobody has a mask on whether they are eating or not.
Q3. How sure are you that Mr Covid stays only on the concourse and not in restaurants?
Getting here a number of your staff are either unmasked or wear them around their throats.
Q4. Is that because they are exempt so why can’t I also go maskless?
I look forward to an early response.
Ends
Actually I don’t expect a response at all. It is quite clear that the mask protocols here are not based on either logic or law it is just about keeping we plebs subservient.
