Six Months On from Sharestock ’24, has Tesla lost its lustre?

By Lucian Miers | Saturday 29 March 2025

Disclosure: The author has a short position in one or more of the shares mentioned. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.

Six months ago at Sharestock, in a discussion on Short-Selling I suggested that even if one knew for sure that a certain company’s shares would be trading substantially lower in a year’s time, market volatility is such that it would be far from certain that one would profit from that knowledge. Of course, we cannot predict the future for sure but, on the basis that the market is a voting machine in the short term and a weighing machine eventually, it is certainly easier to focus on the latter. I named an assorted ragbag of nine frauds and promotes, 5 listed on Nasdaq and 4 in the UK.
