Julie Meyer: What we know about First Tuesday

Published 2 February 2018, 05:35

John Galt is, as you know, an Ayn Rand character. It is also the "nom de plume" of a former senior staffer at Ariadne Capital Limited (now in a shocking administration after £10.5 million disappeared in 10 months as we revealed HERE) who has said that he will expose Ms Meyer. His opening salvo has appeared on LinkedIn today.

Microsaic Systems – argues “encouraged with the progress made in the first half”… so why are the shares slumping?

Published 23 September 2019, 12:39

“Microsaic Systems plc (AIM: MSYS), the developer of point of need mass spectrometry instruments, is pleased to announce its unaudited interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2019”. The shares have currently responded to 1.15p – er, more than 25% lower!...

Published 30 October 2019, 10:15

Concepta (CPT) has announced results for the first half of 2019 and a “first myLotus® UK Fertility Clinic collaboration”

UPDATED: Buckets and buckets of jam tomorrow and can you feel the Tom Winnifrith hate in that Optibiotix seminar Q&A

Published 16 September 2021, 09:30

This event was held on 9 September and what follows is a transcript of the more interesting Q&As. There is oodles of jam tomorrow but I sense that the time for that working has passed. Steve O’Hara and Optibiotix (OPTI) need to start delivering jam today to drive a re-rate of any sort, let alone from £50 million to £1 billion as suggested in Q1.

Argo Blockchain - now a buy?

Published 20 March 2019, 03:50

Recently Argo Blockchain (ARB) announced a “Strategy Update” including “as a result of the challenging conditions, the company has ceased accepting new mining subscriptions and will terminate all existing mining-as-a-service contracts by 1st April 2019”. Particularly not good as the company only listed in August 2018! – that at 16p in an IPO our own Tom Winnifrith stagged (unsuccessfully); by the time of the noted announcement the shares had fallen to around 3p – but they have now recovered a bit and there looks a good chance of more to come…

Mobile Streams – partnership with Reliance Jio ‘delight’, but financials?...

Published 7 January 2019, 04:10

Mobile Streams (MOS) is “delighted to be partnering with the world's fastest growing telecom company, Reliance Jio… India's largest 4G network”. However, it’s an RNS Reach announcement…

Today’s Primary Bid Offer deadline 9 PM or when book filled: Zenith Energy

Published 20 June 2018, 09:55

I know nothing about Zenith ( ZEN) other than it is listed in Canada as well as on the main market here in London and it is an oil and gas company operating the largest onshore oilfield in Azerbaijan. So I make no recommendation.

Is my Supply@ME Capital owning stalker Charlotte really a man?

Published 11 March 2021, 11:29

In yesterday’s bearcast, I relayed how I had been contacted by a Charlotte Daniels who I was convinced was trying to entrap me and whose phraseology strongly indicated the use of google translate. Two emails later, I wonder if Charlotte, a shareholder in the fraud Supply@ME Capital (SYME), is in fact a British male soccer yob. Here is the complete correspondence, judge for yourself:

Today's Primary Bid offer is Versarien at 145p - you know I am almost tempted (in a shabby way)

Published 22 September 2018, 07:44

At 175p Versarien (VRS) is valued at £263 million. I cannot argue with two writers on this site (Lucian and Cynical) that the valuation looks absurd based on historic profits and cashburn or even on some of the more optimistic forecasts. But it has now announced it is raising £2.9 million (or more) at 145p via Primary Bid and I am almost tempted to have a flutter. Here's why...

The 13 most embarrassing comments on Chris Parrish's quixotic Quindell petition

Published 15 February 2015, 01:55

Chris Parrish is mad at us, ShareProphets, and he wants us regulated by the FCA. The petition uses our logo and, in a mere 478 words, calls out ShareProphets or Tom Winnifrith 11 times. Check out Parrish's petition here. It's a hoot.

Corero Network Security – “Significant Contract Wins”. Hmmm, what about the cash crunch ahoy?

Published 3 January 2018, 03:58

Corero Network Security (CNS) “is pleased to announce” combined customer orders “worth in excess of $400,000 for SmartWall products and related one-year support services”. What’s the detail and import of this?...

The 20 Most Listened-to Bearcasts of 2022

Published 1 January 2023, 16:33

Tom's Bearcasts are the most popular part of ShareProphets – and that's by what we can count. Podcast plays on individual’s personal phones or computers are notoriously unmeasurable. These 20 Bearcasts are what the members of ShareProphets could not get enough of in 2022.

SmartSpace Software – trading update, hybrid working confidence?

Published 5 July 2022, 17:16

Previously writing on ‘smart’ buildings and commercial spaces software company SmartSpace (SMRT), in February with the shares up to 73.5p I concluded that with the financial uncertainty and the valuation I continued to avoid. What now, following a trading update and the shares up in response, though currently 58p?

PensionBee – WTF is Adjusted EBITDAM? You are kidding me right? Sell.

Published 20 January 2022, 14:43

Bodged bullshit earnings plus what? Historically EBITDAM is EBITDA but also subtracting from the “cost base” either management or management excess. But a spokesperson says that PensionBee (PBEE) views this as a key metric in today’s FY trading statement and predicts adjusted EBITDAM profitability by December 2022.

BREAKING: Reddit Conspiracy to "Fuck the London Stock Exchange" and make the con SYME London's GameStop!

Published 30 January 2021, 09:49

Shares in the outright con Supply@ME Capital (SYME) remain suspended on the London’s Stock Exchange despite its very belated posting of two missing sets of accounts. In my latest letter to the regulators at the FCA I explained why the shares should stay suspended until Supply’s lies in those two accounts are addressed. But here’s another reason, plotters on Reddit are aiming to attempt a mass buying of the shares on Monday, if they are unsuspended, to destroy, what they believe is a massive shorting conspiracy. They think Supply will be the UK’s GameStop, taking down evil hedgies and shorters.

Merlin Entertainments – is activism a new ride at Alton Towers?

Published 24 May 2019, 15:23

I have written about Merlin Entertainments (MERL) before, noting back in February that 'from a stock market perspective it is a hard share to love as it seems to need to pour in a lot of capex to keep relevant and this crimps the valuation you would pay. Risk-reward feels more exciting in the lower third of the aforementioned 300-400p range'. Well the lower end of that share price range was (again) the area the share bounced from earlier in the week when it was announced that the activist investor ValueAct was agitating for change…

Metro Bank is considering the old 2+2=3 business strategy

Published 15 June 2020, 11:09

Shares in Metro Bank (MTRO) are up a tad this morning but I really do not know why. You know my long-held negative view of the company, which I last wrote here in May. For years now it has been rolling from one mistake to another and today it remains a desperately marginal business, with a thin balance sheet, dodgy loan book and multiple flaws. My personal view remains that the finally refreshed management team should conclude it is time to sell the book of assets to somebody with a bigger balance sheet. Sadly, I doubt whether there is any material equity value...

Keep avoiding Deliveroo shares

Published 19 January 2023, 10:34

I have pretty much had the same view on Deliveroo (ROO) shares since its comedy IPO in 2021: by all means have a Deliveroo delivery a couple of times a year, but don’t buy the shares! I last said that in August when the shares were just below a one quid price and, despite lower bond yields and better larger cap markets since, the stock is still about the same price today. And you will not be surprised to know that today’s update is still banging on about how the online food delivery company will be profitable…at some point later this decade!

TrakM8: a treble whammy of bad news for it - I'm celebrating

Published 13 April 2018, 05:49

For those of us who have been 100% vindicated with our bearishness on TrakM8 (TRAK) today is a bit of a party because we find ourselves celebrating not one but three pieces of bad news. And we are not the only ones celebrating.
I would imagine that Lorne Daniel, an honourable man, who is the research analyst covering tech round at FinnCap will also be on cloud nine as he will never have to write another supportive corporate broker note on this dog ever again. For the first news is that TrakM8 is switching Nomad and broker from FinnCap to Arden Partners.
