Xaar - do the analysts views mean a monkey's?

Published 25 March 2014, 06:56

In his weekly financial video postcard, Tom Winnifrith questioned the typical views of broker and research reports (see HERE) – and I have been reminded of this whilst reading some such reports on digital inkjet printing technology group Xaar plc (XAR). The following explains.

Sage Group continues to perform, whilst British Land continues not to

Published 16 November 2022, 14:04

I am pleased to see Sage Group (SGE) shares back up to a circa 800p share price after the publication of its full-year numbers earlier today. Six months ago, I noted that I was “once again…in love with Sage Group shares”. Even though I am not a personal user of its small business capabilities, it is still super relevant from a cloud and ongoing new R&D perspective. But, whilst the share was cheap in May, it looks closer to being a fairer value today. In short, time to take some nice profits at Sage Group. So, if one of Newcastle’s FTSE 100 finest is doing well, what about the more London-focused British Land (BLND)?

Amur Minerals: high risk but potentially very rewarding

Published 26 March 2014, 08:08

If  you are risk averse then Amur Minerals (AMC) definitely isn’t the share for you, but it could offer large rewards for anyone taking the gamble. On paper it is hard to see why, at 4.33p, it is trading at a market cap of just over £16 million, given the stage it is at in terms of exploiting its assets, and when compared to its peers.

I might not be a Sanctuary Spa and St. Tropez sort of guy, but PZ Cussons shares are still a Buy for me

Published 15 April 2023, 08:45

I wrote earlier this year that I was going to buy some shares in the Carex, Childs Farm, Cussons Baby, Imperial Leather, Morning Fresh, Original Source, Premier, Sanctuary Spa and St. Tropez producer PZ Cussons (PZC). Judging by its third quarter update and the conference call I listened to on Thursday, it feels to me as if the FTSE 250 consumer company is making good progress.

Avanti Communications - tell us about the QSAT (now tits up) revenue you have booked

Published 20 May 2017, 03:10

Oh King of the bombasts, David Williams is there something you are not telling us about your crumbling POS business Avanti Communications (AVN). Yes... that £13.6 million deal with QSAT. You know the company that has just gone bust. This is all about revenue recognition you bombastic prick.

Stay long, but watch what happens to gold next!

Published 10 April 2014, 13:36

Once again the MIDAS Method has provided another cracking low risk trading opportunity in gold. On April 1st, I wasn’t joking when I said that gold faced “a massive test at $1,289.9/oz”. So far, the yellow metal has passed this with flying colours and if you went long at the start of the month you are perfectly positioned to bank a small profit and have a free ride on further gains. But how likely is gold to continue its rally?

Cloudcall – pleased to announce its revenue growth, what about cash burn?

Published 18 January 2018, 09:00

Previously writing on communications-into-CRM platforms integrating software group Cloudcall (CALL), I concluded with the shares at circa 150p that the top line growth interests, but I’d be looking for more net cash generation reassurance. There’s now a Trading Update which has taken the shares to around 160p…

blinkx plc – Edelman critics continuing to play ‘the man’, as the PR machine struggles to play ‘the ball’?

Published 11 April 2014, 14:07

In a pathetic piece today, with no comment on the actual content of the work, The Telegraph’s City Diary claims “Ben Edelman left red-faced over taking cash to bash Blinkx”. Following his UK Investor Show presentation, the Harvard Business School associate professor has published some further analysis on Blinkx plc (BLNX), noting “my testing of Blinkx ex-Zango adware began in 2004 with unpaid writing on my web site, and has grown to include paid and unpaid work for advertisers, ad networks, publishers, investors, and regulators. However, none of these requested or funded this article or any portion of the research presented in this article”. The following looks at this latest article in conjunction with some blogging by Zango co-founder and former Chief Technology Officer, Ken Smith.

Monday Easter egg: The Twenty Most Listened-to Bearcasts of 2022, so far

Published 18 April 2022, 07:38

Listen to the 20 most listened-to Bearcasts since January 1st and you'll hear nearly seven hours of Tom's dulcet tones unwinding the unexplainable, embarrassing the shameless, and chiding the ridiculous (Music Magpie holders? Chill Brands RNS's?) Plus cats, gardening, and, if I heard these correctly, life as a single mother.

The 20 Most Listened-to Bearcasts of 2022

Tom's Bearcasts are the most popular part of ShareProphets – and that's by what we can count. Podcast plays on individual’s personal phones or computers are notoriously unmeasurable. These 20 Bearcasts are what the members of ShareProphets could not get enough of in 2022.

Aphria - a cannabis giant set to go to zero: the new Gabriel Grego dossier

Published 3 December 2018, 07:16

Gabriel Grego is the man who exposed Globo (GBO) as a fraud, Folli Follie as a fraud and his new target is Canadian cannabis giant Aphria - his clear view is that this multi billion dollar company is a zero. Gabriel is presenting in New York right now but we have his presentation and his dossier which is utterly devestating. This looks like free money as a short.

Is my Supply@ME Capital owning stalker Charlotte really a man?

Published 11 March 2021, 11:29

In yesterday’s bearcast, I relayed how I had been contacted by a Charlotte Daniels who I was convinced was trying to entrap me and whose phraseology strongly indicated the use of google translate. Two emails later, I wonder if Charlotte, a shareholder in the fraud Supply@ME Capital (SYME), is in fact a British male soccer yob. Here is the complete correspondence, judge for yourself:

Argo Blockchain – disingenuity ahead of sack-the-board General Meeting

Published 10 May 2019, 09:13

Argo Blockchain (ARB) has updated including that it “reiterates that it expects to be operating cash breakeven during May… expects to turn EBITDA break-even in the second half of this year” but also that it “has recently contracted to purchase 1,000 S17's for a total consideration of £1.7m to be put into production in early July”

Last day of June! What are house prices, Ocado and Moonpig up to?

Published 30 June 2022, 11:44

It is the last day of June, the last day of the quarter and the last day of the first half of the year. How exciting! There is so much more to come for all active investors. As for the ‘buy a bit of everything / anything’ passive investor types…good luck, unless you really want to ignore the world of investments for a decade or two. And so much to think about, as always on a Thursday. First, I was amused to see that the latest Nationwide House Price Index for June pleased many people by still showing a year-on-year increase of 10.7% (only just below the 10.8% anticipated number).

Today's Primary Bid Offer - Scientific Digital Imaging

Published 12 February 2019, 03:41

I know nothing whatsoever about Scientific Digital Imaging (SDI)  but apparently it designs and manufactures scientific products for use in applications including life sciences, healthcare, astronomy, consumer manufacturing and art conservation markets. But it is on the acquisition trail and so there is a Primary Bid offering.

What is the real value of the Eqtec deal?

Published 18 January 2019, 01:27

There was much glee amongst certain individuals on Tuesday morning when an RNS dropped from Eqtec (EQT) announcing a contract, and some were very quick to point out that my opinion on the company had been incorrect. That followed my articles here saying that I wouldn’t touch the company, and although the news caused the share price to spike, my opinion on the company is completely unchanged – in fact the news actually reinforced my view!...

President Energy; quietly, yet publicly, confident of a big oil find?

Published 7 July 2014, 12:55

I last covered President Energy (PPC) about seven weeks ago and suggested this could be one to follow the chairman, Peter Levine, in buying at 30.75p (the then mid-price). Since writing, President’s stock has risen to 37p, but not in a straight trajectory
