I am still preferring the new Cheese and Honey Mustard Toastie offering from Greggs, rather than its shares

By Chris Bailey | Tuesday 3 October 2023

Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.

I am not surprised that one survey this morning observed that “food price inflation fell for the fifth month in a row to 9.9% from 11.5%...down for the first time in more than two years in month-on-month terms”. Anyone who has visited a supermarket, or purchased online, can see this trend across all the players from the Germans to Waitrose (and everyone else in between). I look forward to hearing the comments from Tesco (TSCO) about all of this tomorrow, but are such trends (within a general cost of living crisis) good or bad for names such as Greggs (GRG)?
