We have two new volunteers for June 17th and the 34 mile walk from Winchester Cathedral to Woodlarks. The far more photogenic of the two is pictured below.
Those walking are now: myself, grandpa Lucian Miers, Euroloon Jonathan Price, Fleet Street Legend 79 year old Brian Basham is injured so will walk the last stretch but his trainer Jacqui will do the whole slog. Young Steve Moore and reader Nick from Islington are the young folks so start at seven with Jacqui.
Joining the oldies/fatties on a 4.15 AM start are reader Sam (making his debut on this, our last ever, walk), reader and former bean counter for ShareProphets Nigel Diver, mining boss Andrew Bell – hoping to make the finish line at his 4th attempt – and his friend Mercie, a champion runner pictured below. After Euroloon Jonathan has talked about Brexit for five hours, Mercie may be tempted to run away but in theory she walks with the old men for the whole route.
So that makes eleven of us. This is the final walk and though Lucian, myself and Jonathan all have knee issues we are determined to finish.
Woodlarks is a great cause, providing a unique holiday experience for the severely handicapped and their carers. By unique I really do mean unique.
So far, well over 90% of Shareprophets readers HAVE NOT donated. Yet, with gift aid and one unmarked pledge we have now raised £12,500, which is a quarter of our unrealistic targe but not bad.
