Outside paywall: Charlatan snake oil salesman Darren Winters joins the crypto bandwagon with Afrostar: Avoid like the plague

By Tom Winnifrith | Monday 8 November 2021

Has poor Africa not suffered enough? War. Famine. Disease. Visits from Bob Geldof and Bono. Surely the continent deserves a break? Oh no, now it has to cope with conman, charlatan and snake oil salesman Darren Winters whose criminal antics on this website have been exposed so often.

Winters is heading up a new crypto offering AfroStar as you can see HERE. Naturally it promised investors unrivalled wealth and is soft launching to the 500,000 existing clients of the team behind it. Put another way, as that number sounds familiar, anyone ever appearing on a Winters mailing list is being contacted. Winters claims that Afrostar  has already spent $500,000+ on marketing for launch “with a follow on $multi-million campaign planned and ready” and boasts of the company’s “world class team” with him at the head. Whatever.

Winters has been fleecing folks with bogus training programmes on how to make money from shares and forex for more than two decades. My articles do not appear in Google searches as Winters has taken advantage of European privacy laws to have them removed from search engines. He has threatened to sue me for libel but his pathetic lawyers letter was treated with the contempt it deserved and he, and his appalling wife and business partner, scuttled away back under a rock.

I have funded and supported a number of cases brought by some of his many victims and won on each occasion. It goes without saying that if you invest in Afrostar, Winters will make money and you will lose it. It’s that simple.

If the FCA were not completely useless it would have closed down Winters years ago and so the odds on it acting against his latest scam are, I fear, not good.

PS. I have alerted the FCA to this at the highest level. If it does nothing then when this ends in tears, it will be held accountable.
