It is 9/11 and I look back 14 years. I also reflect on the Orwellian way we all viewed Syria earlier this week. Looking forward, we have sold 90% of the restaurant in Clerkenwell to the pizza hardman Darren Atwater. we end up slightly ahead on the deal but I have had enough of running businesses and blame my own old age and the Tories for that. This is the start of my wind-down. On AIM its a cracking day with another China fraud kill, China Chaintek (CTEK) and more fun and games at Mosman Oil & Gas (MSMN), Redhall (RHL), Monitise (MONI), Sefton Resources (SER, Cloudbuy (CBUY) and Golden Saint Resources (GSR). And I am getting into bed with Rob Proctor of Audioboom (BOOM). Not literally but...well I explain in full. in the podcast.

I totally agree that the tory party are now as anti small business as labour and the libdems. They don’t seem to realise that there is only one way to get new large businesses – allow plenty of small ones to flourish first.

Great cast ………. and glad to hear of your business changes that means you can focus on what you excel at . All that commuting and firefighting staff “no shows” at RM always sounded like a heart attack waiting to happen to me ………. I dont know how you kept it up so long .
The anecdote regarding your friend due to dine at the top of the tower on 9/11 was a useful reminder to “live for the day” . We all plan ahead and fret about the consequences so much these days . That person must feel truly blessed and glad of the hangover on that day. I often feel we put too much pressure on our young people to “perform” at A level and career wise when infact no one really knows what lies ahead . So many of our youngsters seem to be so stressed out during later school years with all the associated mental health and eating disorders. Live for the day folk .
It would be good if you could get your friend to write an article for SP on how the 9/11 experience changed them , if at all , or did they carry that legacy on through life in some manner or other and live their life differently as a result . Annonymously of course.

A cousin of mine who was left wheelchair-bound after a diving accident in New York in the mid-80s was in the South Tower that day but managed to get out. I recall watching the horror unfold from a pub called the Celtic Pride (seriously!) just opposite Dylan’s old local. I was beyond angry. Live for the day indeed. That’s not to say we should be too Zen Buddhist when it comes to making plans (as a fan of a different Dylan once remarked, life’s what happens to you while you’re busy making them), but merely to appreciate what we have when we have it.
And mindful of the flack this may generate, I thought that dealt to George W. because he lingered in that classroom after being told they’d just been the victim of the worst terrorist atrocity ever rather than sport a cape and leap into action immediately was unfair and a little low. He’d been in the job for mere months and it must have been – erm – quite a shock.
Anyway, have a pleasant weekend.
