Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: (Today's) things that are making me angry

Well there is an annoying ex for starters. Then the folks taking the piss on a sash window here at the Welsh Hovel. Then PL defending Katie Potts spunking £1 million of other folks’ cash on Bidstack (BIDS) and why following TR1s is an error. I look at Wishbone Gold (WSBN), trying to be realistic, more cracking news from Xtract Resources (XTR), and at sorting pumping and dumping at Europa Metals (EUZ). No doubt Messrs Laurence Read and Benjamin Turner will be taking me off their Christmas card lists after that. Hey ho. Finally a look at red flag goings on at a company where I have pointed out many red flags before, All Active Asset Capital Limited (AAA).

Challenger Acquisitions: the wheel of fortune turns as it recycles itself into waste to energy

It looks as though the fun is finally over at Cynical Bear’s favourite, Mark Gustafson’s Standard-listed Challeneger Acquisitions (CHAL) for this morning the shares in the carcass of failed Big Wheels were suspended pending an RTO. Quite what Cindrigo Energy thinks it is doing taking on up to £560,000 of Challenger’s creditors and overheads, plus the costs of the RTO I am less sure of.

WSBN

Wishbone Gold: Big Dave Lenigas now ramping, Go Dave Go!

This has been a dreadful tip from me and the only consolation that you may have if you followed my advice is that I have lost a vast amount on this one myself.Wishboe Gold (WSBN) shares are up by 75% today at 2.45p but I calculate that i still need a gain of c 900% to break even from here. The stock is ahead on news that the company is going to start exploring for gold in Australia and the, rather fruity RNS mentions some grades from chip samples at surface.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: the one I should have done yesterday

I was, of course, travelling back from Greece, and while my colleagues penned articles in my absence, here is the bearcast you all wanted covering Eurasia Mining (EUA), Supply@ME Capital (SYME), and Curzon Energy (CZN). Today’s bearcast will follow a bit later.

No choice at M&S, whilst Wm. Morrison gives itself choices...

Few people can be surprised by yesterday’s update from Marks & Spencer (MKS) that it is cutting a little under a tenth of its workforce. The update may technically have been in-line but the tone was undoubtedly very cautious. In the last 13 weeks reported on, the like-for-like sales in food may have risen by 2.5% (and even better ex-hospitality interests), but the shocking aspect was 40% odd declines in clothing/home offerings even if online was strongly positive…

Gold Wobbles but the Montana Log-Cabin stands firm

Jordan Roy-Byrne warns that judging by past events gold is likely to be a bit wobbly in the wake of the correction over the last few days. Thus we have seen gold fall from a high of $2067 to a low point of $1885-ish, a recovery back over $2000 and now we are wobbling around $1990 per ounce. But in the greater scheme of things, given that we have risen from around $1560 per ounce this year, these wobbles don’t add up to much. My Montana log-cabin stands firm.

I Should Buy Persimmon Shares as the Big Builder Behaved Beautifully in Lockdown and Could Prosper Now

Hello, Share Chums. Persimmon (PSN) is one of my favourite housebuilders. Its half-year results, just out, confirm my optimism. Ok, its profit has taken a knock, this time it was a pre-tax £292 million compared to £509 million last year over the same six-month period. But the group has had a great start to the second half…

Bidstack – interims argue “healthy cash position” & “making material progress”. Er...

Bidstack Group (BIDS) has updated including emphasising “following our oversubscribed placing in June 2020, Bidstack has a healthy cash position and is making material progress in its approach to building a strong foundation on which to grow and create value for shareholders”. Hmmm – “healthy cash position” and “making material progress” hey?…

Wood Group – right on and going up!

Back in mid-June I observed that short sellers in energy services-and-more company Wood Group (WG.) should be taking their profits. The shares have moved up a little bit since, an appreciation which has been nicely supplemented today following the company’s first half results…

Eurasia Mining – so much for the dividend and asset sales: Placing at 22.5p to raise $10m...

Well, you cannot say that you were not warned by Tom Winnifrith. So much for the dividend, so much for those much vaunted asset sales via Chinese CITC bank, so much for all the ramping by people apparently close to the company. This morning a bailout placing has been announced by AIM-listed Eurasia Mining (EUA) to raise £7.6 million, to “institutional” investors. So are we talking about Warren Buffett? I doubt it!

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Can Trump win in November and does it matter?

I am travelling today back from the Greek Hovel to the Welsh Hovel so this is an unusual bearcast. I called it for Trump last time when the entire media said otherwise. I look at the latest polls in detail and beneath the headlines and flag up the 4 great uncertainties. The answer is that Trump can indeed win but I am not calling it right now. You just cannot. As to whether it matters….

Sosandar – FY Numbers: sales up but so are losses...

AIM-listed online womenswear outfit Sosandar (SOS) has announced its full year numbers to March. Whilst revenues were up to £9 million from £4.4 million, losses were also up at £7.8 million against £3.5 million last time. With a market capitalisation, following this morning’s share price gain to 18.75p, sitting at £31 million, that seems a pretty juicy rating. But things have changed as Covid-19 smashed retail in the high street and online did rather better. How are things looking now?

DCTA

Directa Plus is insanely overvalued but does that mean its shares will fall?

An early morning tweet comes to me from an investor in Directa Plus (DCTA) suggesting that, although the share is speculative it is “under the radar screens of AIM tipsters” and insanely cheap. At 83p the Italian-run company is valued at £51 million so I suspect it has already received a good bit more than zero coverage.

KDR

Karelian Diamonds – £0.42m placing at a whopping discount & still how’s it going to pay for any exploration?...

AIM-listed Karelian Diamonds (KDR) – the junior sibling of Conroy Gold and Natural Resources (CGNR) – has announced a placing to raise £420,000 at 4p per share, a whopping 24% discount to yesterday’s closing price. That’s all very well, but by my maths it still leaves the company technically insolvent…
