Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Bruno Brooks, those 17 f*cks, Anthea Turner and today's RNS nonsense
Yes indeed it is THAT Bruno Brooks, the one who was shagging Anthea Turner, etc, etc. who runs AIM uber dog Immedia (IME). I explain why its RNS today is the biggest F*ck of all. I also explain why no article on Julie Meyer today - I've been too busy cooking and serving poisonous pizza NOT! Then I look at Defenx (DFX) in some detail before having a butchers at another Neil Woodford dog Utilitywise (UTW).

Telit announcement - ShareProphets RNS Translation Service
Yesterday Telit (TCM) got tame journalist Ben Harrington to leak that it had received bids for its only asset of value its auto division. That has forced a statement which is, of course, all spin. Here is the ShareProphets translation service. Our comments are in bold.

Utilitywise – from bad to worse for Woodford-backed dog; shares suspended as currently unable to publish audited accounts
Having less than two weeks ago stated that it “expects to complete its year-end audit process in respect of FY17 and announce its final results by 31 January 2018”, today Woodford-backed dog Utilitywise (UTW) has announced “the directors have now concluded that the company will not be able to publish its annual audited accounts for the year ended 31 July 2017 by 31 January 2018”. Cue share suspension…

KPMG in the soup again as FRC opens investigation into Carillion
The only UK financial watchdog that is anything other than a poodle has again bared its teeth and again it is the auditors at KPMG that are in the firing line, this time over Carillion (CLLN). Still being investigatred over its role in the Quindell fraud, let off the hook on HBOS, KPMG at least knows how the Financial Reporting Council works.

The Weird Keeps Getting Weirder
US Equity valuations of 1999, as proven after the fact, were grossly elevated. However, when considered against a backdrop of economic factors, those valuations seem relatively tame versus today. Some will argue that Donald Trump’s pro-growth agenda will invigorate the outlook for the economy and corporate earnings. While that is a possibility, that argument is highly speculative as such policies face numerous headwinds along the path to implementation. Economic, demographic and productivity trends all point to stagnation.

A Big Hole in South Africa Could Produce A Soaring Share for this Perky Miner
Hello Share Lovers. If you’re rich, your card case will be made from silver. If you’re super rich, like the villain in my latest horror novel, Black Snow, then it will be fashioned in platinum. How’s that for a crafty plug? Platinum is worth more than gold. And like gold, which is currently shy of its deserved value, there looks some catching up to be done regarding its price.

Exclusive: David Lenigas run Afriag Global under formal investigation in South Africa
I have been shown emails which confirm that NEX Markets listed AIM refugee Afriag Global (AFRI), founded and run by David Lenigas is now under a formal investigation by South Africa's Companies and Intellectual Properties Commission (CIPC). Given the allegations about Yusuf Kajee and Paul de Robillard, the key players in Afriag earlier today, the company and those involved are now likely to come under inense scrutiny from regulators in London.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - Surging Sterling: it was never about Brexit
I start with a discussion on Neil Woodford. Should I do a "special" session on him at UK Investor? Answers in the comments section below please. Sterling is very much on the up. It was never about Brexit, that was a lie from the liberal media and remoaners. It was always about base rates and they are now on the up. What does that mean for us all? I look at Prezzo, another restaurant chain in the merde but it is not just about being in the wrong sector at the wrong time it is about debt and that, as I explain, has wider implications. And finally I look at the latest initiative from this not fit for purpose Government, meddling with share buy backs.

Atom Bank: Yet another Woodford cash-guzzler – more funding required
Pointed in its direction by Robert Dwek in the comments on my last Woodford piece, I thought I would write an article on the hugely capital intensive Woodford portfolio holding, Atom Bank, a start-up bank. A bit of a long read but I found it quite intellectually interesting looking at the challenges facing a start-up bank and it also throws up one of the first major funding issues for Woodford caused by the predicament he has recently got himself into.

Malin Corp: Yet another Woodford cash-guzzler – part of the incestuous biotech investor family
Thought I may as well stick to a theme today and look at another Woodford investment which, surprise, surprise, undertook a placing on Friday, Dublin-listed, Malin Corp. This is yet another fund that invests in the same sort of early-stage biotech plays as Woodford Patient Capital Trust (WPCT). I will touch on why it looks overvalued to me and leave you with a piece of analysis to highlight the odd incestuous world of these biotech investors not that I’m making any accusations of course.

Julie Meyer smears former Ariadne boss Amit Pau but I have a confidential email she sent....
Julie Meyer MBE, of the Ariadne Group, has this weekend launched the most scathing of attacks on the former MD of Ariadne Capital (now in administration) Amit Pau who quit before it went under - essentially she accuses him of dishonesty and incompetence and says the he was told his days were numbered from early 2017. But sadly for Julie Meyer the Winnileaks facility has thrown up a confidential email she sent to a prospective investor in Ariadne on 6 October 2017.

I failed to mention Sosandar (SOS) but I am very happy there too. My HMD podcast I refer to is HERE
