Audioboom might reflect on its big bucks deal with Russell Brand – now when’s its next lack of profits warning?
It is not for you or I to judge the guilt or otherwise of Mr Russell Brand. I realise that when I suggested that it was wrong for Mr Philip Schofield to shag a runner on his show and to use TV station cars to ferry around a young lover that was, on my part, homophobic. That Mr Brand is alleged to have done exactly the same and far worse with girls is therefore all grounds for legitimate condemnation without fear of being homophobic. Whatever. What is fascinating is that it is now universally agreed that Brand has always been a foul mouthed ignoramus who treated women badly. Yet…- By Tom Winnifrith |

Home Building Ain't Fashionable Just Now, So Why Not Get in Early - and on the Cheap?
Hello Share Shufflers. Happy are those who managed tickets for Tom’s Sharestock event on Saturday. The timing is impeccable with many analysts, including this very old one, predicting fit action in share prices for the rest of the year. Here’s one company which, seemingly rather surprisingly given the present circumstances, might do better than most.- By Malcolm Stacey |

Northcoders – from “trading comfortably in line with management expectations” to now expects to be “significantly below” in 8 weeks!
First half of the 2023 calendar year results from software coding training programmes in the UK group Northcoders (CODE) are headlined “Group continues to grow despite challenging macro environment with record demand for consumer training bootcamps”. So what of a currently more than 30% lower share price in response to 130p?- By Steve Moore |

Avacta Group – the various responses, even more of a short
Folks reacted in various ways to yesterday’s factually accurate article about Avacta (AVCT) and the fact that it is certain to do a fund raise well before Easter. One chap wanted to beat me up as he announced on twitter. Others commented on my teeth – discoloured as a result of childhood illness. There were other personal attacks and last night this website was taken down by a DOS attack.- By Tom Winnifrith |

Quiz plc – trading warning but argues “longer-term” confidence. It’s got to first even reach that “longer-term” though!
Previously writing on omnichannel ‘occasion wear and dressy casual wear’ fashion company Quiz plc (QUIZ), in July with the shares down to 9p I concluded I remained very cautious and continued to avoid. The shares most recently closed at 8.825p and what of now a “trading update”?

Naked Wines for me remains a stock to avoid (irrespective whether you are a drinker…or not)
Fifteen months ago I said that “Naked Wines (WINE) shareholders will probably need a drink!”. Back then, the company’s shares were just over 150p and today they are below 65p. And yet, remarkably, the company says “adjusted EBIT of £17.4m, or £16.3m on a 52-week comparable basis (FY22: £2.0m), ahead of guidance (£13-17m) due to lower new customer investment”. What is going on at this, not even now £50 million market cap, business?

Safestyle UK – in less than 8 weeks from “net cash position at the end of the year is still expected” to even its debt facilities are to prove insufficient!
Most recently writing on windows and doors manufacturer and retailer Safestyle UK (SFE), in July with the shares slumping to around 10p I concluded that ‘the company reckons “the net cash position at the end of the year is still expected to be positive”, I reckon it is on trend for its borrowing facility to need to be ‘accessible’ and, even at a now down to £14 million market cap, at this juncture still avoid/sell’. Now a further “Trading Update”… and the shares further slumping from a prior close 8.3p to currently below 5p. What’s its update now?

Chill Brands AGM statement – it's “avin” a giraffe as it plies an evil trade
Chill Brands (CHLL) today boasts at its AGM that the products on its website “contribute to the overall well-being of our customers, delivering the social and recreational benefits they enjoy while minimising the potential harm associated with traditional substances like tobacco and alcohol.” So that would include vaping products that bring kids into the word of inhalation , a pathway to smoking, and which can cause Lung and other organ damage, breathing problems, asthma, lung scarring and chronic bronchitis. Next up, Russell Brand on why he has always been a feminist.- By Tom Winnifrith |

Fire safety and temperature management products and technology group Zenova (ZED) has issued an RNS commencing that it “is thrilled to announce that first deliveries of 13,654 units of Zenova FX500 handheld aerosol extinguishers for the USA market to our recently announced new sub distributor Petra Industries” and including “this is the first time that the Zenova FX500 is available for purchase in the USA and it is expected that orders volumes will increase as more distribution channels are opened in the USA”. Deltex Medical – interims, emphasises EBITDA… but it’s currently only a target and is bullshit earnings!
Writing on Deltex Medical Group (DEMG) with the shares crashing towards 0.20p last month I noted it will be interesting to see just how dire the latest half-year position was and questioned will the latest funds really be sufficient to implement a growth strategy delivering net cash generation. So what of the now-announced results for the first half of the 2023 calendar year?

Mondi does a deal with the Russians…and the share price, correctly, likes it
Seven weeks ago I admitted that I got “the horn for the world of sack kraft paper and paper bags” and thought Mondi (MNDI) shares were cheap. It is good to see the shares up over 10% over the last month, including an over 4% increase today due to a sale in Russia.

Avacta – time to go short again as countdown to another attempt by Stifel to do a placing is surely underway
Back in June I revealed that Stifel was trying to raise £10 million at 90p then 80p for Avacta (AVCT). The company dissembled in its “refutation.” The fact is that despite having an outstanding £55 million death spiral in situ, Avacta needs to place, it is just a matter of when.- By Tom Winnifrith |

SLAM DUNK SHORT: Belluscura – bailout placing looms to stop a gig with the Fat Lady within weeks
Some folks are fooled as to the rate of cashburn at Belluscura (BELL) by the way that – for reasons that are inexplicable to me – it capitalises so many costs. Put simply the states losses massively under-represent the horrific cashburn. Do the maths and even Stevie Wonder can see that the company is running on vapours and unless there is a material, so no doubt massively discounted, fund raise within weeks the Fat Lady will have another AIM listed gig.- By Tom Winnifrith, the Sheriff of AIM |
