Nanoco – contract that was “a clear demonstration of… unique capabilities and value proposition”… to be cancelled!
I previously concluded on Nanoco (NANO) with the shares up towards 40p in December, the latest states that the noted technological and commercial activities “will support the business as it transitions through this exciting phase in our evolution”, but I choose the financials and track-record over the ‘jam tomorrow’ – and currently continue to avoid. The shares closed yesterday at 32.5p – but on the back of a “US Customer partnership update” are currently sub 9p!...

Canadian Overseas Petroleum – It has got to be kidding right?
My good friend Gary Newman has covered Canadian Overseas Petroleum (COPL) a number of times on this website, most recently on 29th May when he came to the view the placing RNS’ed at that time would only keep the lights on for a short while, a view I shared. Just a few days later, the company (which has a standard listing on the main market) suddenly seemed to realise it would need to issue a prospectus to complete the placing. Of course a prospectus has to pass review by the UK Listing Authority, which is part of the FCA. Now the FCA does not always get everything correct (cough cough!), but I have more faith in a UKLA review than any AIM Nomad review.

Ouzo O’clock in North Wales, misery in the valleys as IQE warns (as predicted)
The Sheriff of AIM is surely entitled to a celebratory breakfast ouzo at his hovel in North Wales? On Wednesday I flagged up a profits warning from the Krauts at Siltronic and suggested that IQE (IQE) was likely to follow. Less than 48 hours later the Cardiff dog duly barks. As a long term bear I have repeatedly warned silly sell side analysts, Thirsty Paul Scott and others that this company is a crock…once again I stand vindicated. And so to detail….it is grim.

Woodford Income Focus: stocks gain, redemptions still biting and HL bang on the money
Tick-tock, tick-tock….another day and another day of redemptions at Neil Woodfords lesser dog fund. I calculated yesterday morning that his Income Focus fund (WIFF) had closed at £313.8 million on Wednesday and according to Morningstar yesterday the NAV per unit increased by 0.47%. So that should have raised WIFF to £315.3 million before redemptions.

Paragon Entertainment – you were warned; “Intention to appoint Administrators”
I previously noted on Paragon Entertainment (PEL) writing on this company in March, I concluded will the new proceeds really prove sufficient “for general working capital and to increase the company's headroom against its on-demand facility with HSBC”? I’m sceptical. Certainly, still a bargepole stock. I continue to avoid. There’s now been an intra-day update (uh oh!)… “Intention to appoint Administrators” (even worse!)…

Saga Works Harder to Garner Customers but the Headwinds Could be Too Strong
Hello Shares Slayers. As a pensioner myself, I like to keep abreast of how a company which is known for focusing on the oldies is getting on. But the latest figures from Saga (SAGA) and the shaky outlook for the travel industry make me want to avoid these shares...

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - egg on face as BCA gets a PE bid
The big excitement today is the foiling of the plans of the Mrs to turn our cats into vegan, Guardian-reading, little darlings. I discuss that and the arrival of the tile polishing man at the Welsh hovel - photos HERE. Then I look at BCA Marketplace (BCA), Neil Woodford, Brave Bison (BBSN), Big Dish (DISH) and Dev Clever (DEV) as well as the general market frothiness.

LightwaveRF – argues an “incredibly encouraging” order… but what about the bottom-line & balance sheet?
Previously writing on “leading smart home solutions provider” LightwaveRF (LWRF), in April I concluded with the shares back above 8p that I continued to avoid. Today a “European distributor order” announcement including CEO Jason Elliott emphasising “it is incredibly encouraging to see one of our newer partnerships, which is directed to developing our European markets, making such strong early progress with this sizeable first order”…

Adventures in retail land with Dunelm and Dixons Carphone
You have probably heard the advice uttered by John Paul Getty about how to get rich ('by selling too soon') and I channel my extremely minor acumen overlap with the great man with Dunelm (DNLM), which I have loved up a number of times on these pages and made a very decent turn on. However, reader, judging by the company's shares recent price action and today's 5%+ move after a very supportive trading update, where it raised its full year profit hopes…

Premier Technical Services Group – a mea culpa from me?
Ay, ay, ay! – a recommended 210.1p offer for Premier Technical Services Group (PTSG) from Macquarie, which “the Independent Directors are recommending that PTSG shareholders vote in favour of”. I bet they are!...

Brave Bison – not so brave Neil Woodford!
Amongst this morning’s crop of RNS announcements was a TR-1 from AIM-listed Brave Bison (BBSN). I can’t say that I’m an expert on this one, but I do know that Tom Winnifrith and Steve Moore have had some fun with it in the past and that it seems to have been a bit of a cash-guzzler. Steve Moore’s last comment being avoid would perhaps sum it up.

Chesterfield Resources – Worthless POS talks bollocks, quick translation service
I have warned several times that Standard Listed Chesterfield Resources (CHF) is a worthless POS. Put simply the Troodos mountains in Cyprus contains copper but not of sufficient grades and size to effect a commercial mining operation. And so today it has issued a ramptastic RNS which is utter bollocks and in that vein my translation of this nonsense is in bold.

Neil Woodford’s Income Focus fund: redemptions still in full flow.....surely this can’t go on much longer
This morning’s figures from Morningstar for Neil Woodford’s beleaguered Income Focus Fund (WIFF) required a bit of legwork to get the total size of the fund, as it has not (yet) been updated. The good news is that the sub-fund sizes have been updated so we can calculate the total fund size after all: no effort is spared for you, dear reader. Hooray! The bad news ... well that is more redemptions for Neil Woodford to meet.

Lekoil – how was my crystal ball?
After pontificating on the position of Lekoil (LEK) prior to the results, it merits a review now that the results have been issued. So how did I do with my crystal ball, and where does it leave the company?

ECSC Group – does AGM update support “build a solid base for ongoing growth”?

How to Beat Plastic Palace Alice - and Perhaps Enjoy a Tasty Share Rise
Hello, Share Crumblers. Anyone watching the TV Tory leadership debate will know how seriously the environment is being taken these days. Not only did the shower of contenders have to field questions about Brexit, but they all seemed even more uncomfortable when a fifteen-year-old critic sneered that the government wasn't do enough to clean the world.

Big Dave Lenigas ousted from Doriemus...a prophet is without honour
And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him. And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And this brings us to Big David Lenigas.

Happy Birthday Neil Woodford, for today WEIF is five (and suspended)
It must be a pretty rare thing to get suspended before reaching the age of five – I wonder how many children have achieved that. But Neil Woodford is the great disruptor so perhaps he should indeed be the exception and today is the fifth birthday of his Equity Income Fund. Let us all celebrate!
