Johnston Press – Net Debt decreases only if you assume the bonds are worth less than face value
Following on from my recent coverage of Trinity Mirror (TNI), today brings interim results from another large player in the so-called “deadtree press”, namely Johnston Press (JPR).

Portmeirion – half year results (following profit warning), does forward confidence look merited?
Following its recent profit warning, “Portmeirion Group (PMP) is pleased to announce its performance for the six months ended 30 June 2016”. Hmmm…

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Nightmares arrive in threes: The Mother in law at 5 PM, Avanti and African Potash
Oakley and I are bracing ourselves for the arrival of the mother in law. Wish us luck. At least I can flee to Shipston tomorrow, my poor cat is trapped with his Pokemon. Then I look at Avanti Communications (AVN) where the shares are surging on the back of an FT report - is this bogus? I look at Messaging International (MES) where I am not interested even after the fall, Magnolia Petroleum (MAGP) and a sector read across from the dire news earlier (HERE), Scotgold (SGZ), Johnston Press (JPR) and then do some detailed maths on African Potash (AFPO) and the loan from the FD's wife which could kill it stone dead on September 1.

Tom Winnifrith Bonus Bearcast: Brexit, data manipulation, hate crimes, house prices & Malcolm talking Foxtons cobblers
I have been doing some work to show that the claims made by the left that Brexit has caused a sharp rise in hate crimes are at best academically flawed and thus unproven and at worst an outright lie. That leads me very directly onto claims made by Malcolm Stacey today on Brexit and house prices as he discussed Foxtons (FOXT) HERE. I take that article apart completely as my old friend is just wrong.

Magnolia Petroleum another keep the lights on placing. Its pointless - this dog should be shot
I have warned you repeatedly (the archive is HERE) that AIM listed Magnolia Petrooleum (MAGP) is a dog with fleas that exists merely to keep its useless board in well paid employment and to provide coke and hookers money for the crony capitalists. It will never make money for shareholders. Hence today we see a laughable bailout placing. Death is merely postponed.

Antrim Energy Shares surge as Criminal Chris Oil dumps his stock...but when?
Given the way that the concert party of criminal Chris Oil, ADVFN boss Clem Chambers and Brokerman Dan have managed to make Sefton the company that it is today, delisted and almost out of cash, folks might have feared that the next port of call was AIM Listed Antrim Energy (AEY) where the three amigos had built up a disclosable stake of 5.6 million shares.

Your nominations needed NOW for the Australian team at the new Olympic Event of share ramping?
In an article earlier today I suggested that my good friend David Lenigas was a slam dunk to win the individual gold medal in the new Olympic Sport of share ramping. But I was concerned that the recent poor form of long term stalwarts of the Roos, such as Pirate Pete Landau and Andy Carroll, means that the Auzzie team in the freestyle share ramping relay event was in deep trouble. Indeed...

zamano – from “positive performance in revenue & profit” to group contribution margins “lower” in less than 3 months…
Provider of interactive applications and services to mobile devices, zamano (ZMNO) “is pleased to issue an Interim Management Statement in conjunction with its Annual General Meeting”. “Pleased to issue” - should be good then, wait, what? The shares are currently down approaching 17%, to 10p, on the back of it? Hmmm…

Midday cage fight: Randgold versus the Bank of England
Too many years ago to remember I recall one of my University lecturers observing that ‘life is a trade-off problem’. He was highlighting some tedious point about microeconomics, but I have a bit of a personal quandary at midday: should I review the latest interest rate and inflation information dump from the Bank of England (‘Super Thursday’) or listen to the Randgold Resources (RRS) quarterly conference call?

Exclusive: ECR Minerals – did Nomad Cairn force out CEO Stephen Clayson for serial porkies?
On Tuesday AIM-listed ECR Minerals (ECR) put out a stinker of an RNS which crashed the share price. Yesterday we learned that the CEO is stepping down, effective at the end of this month. Did he jump, or was he pushed? And was Tuesday’s RNS completely truthful, and where does that leave the Nomad, Cairn?

Getech – claims downturn due to market conditions, so does recovery really require this share option bounty?
With its shares down at levels barely seen since more than four year ago, data and services provider to the natural resources industries, Getech (GTC) “is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Jonathan Copus as Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect… Jonathan does not hold any shares in the company but… on his appointment, the company will grant Jonathan Copus 1.4 million share options”. Hmmm, let’s take a look…

Gullible, greedy private investors are helping to fuel the AIM cesspit - ref. African Potash
Private investors who put their money into small AIM companies are often either incredibly gullible or the part of their brain which urges caution is blinded by greed – and this is largely why the market is able to function in the corrupt way that it does!

Foxtons Had a Brush with Brexit - But It May Get Over It
Hello Share Chippers. An estate agent with a big interest in London is Foxtons (FOXT). But how could anyone suggest this share is worth a look after Brexit? Surely properties in the Smoke will be in the firing line now that we are to leave the EU?

Shite Results from Wandisco - have you seen the balance sheet?
Wandisco (WAND) has today published results for the half calendar year which indicate that at June 30th the company was bust. Thank heavens it got an equity placing away shortly afterwards but did it tell punters how bad things were before it got their cash? And how soon before the next bailout.

Red24 shareholders: lukewarm to possible 24p offer?

A “Pre-Close Trading Update” announcement from GAME Digital (GMD) includes that it “expects to report an Adjusted EBITDA for the 53 weeks ended 30 July 2016 within the range of current market expectations”, though the shares are currently approaching 5% lower, at sub 70p, in response. Aggreko: supping at the temporary power share opportunity trough again
You would have thought I had learnt my lesson on the temporary power market following the disastrous APR Energy ‘excitements’ of a year plus ago. Perhaps I feel emboldened because the ultimate takeover of the company by a do-gooding consortium bailed me out on the name and added a touch of profit to boot. Alternatively I feel a touch of unfinished business on Aggreko (AGK) after calling the stock interesting when it exited the FTSE-100 fifteen months ago and it has quietly been one of the stars of my portfolio year-to-date. At least until today.

LGO Energy now just 0.14p to sell - placing ahoy? Bring back Big Dave Lenigas?
Oh dear Oh dear, things are looking ever bleaker for Neil Ritson and AIM dog with fleas LGO Energy (LGO). Interims out next month will be diabolical, the cash position by now is looking grimmer than a wet Thursday in Scunthorpe and ramptastic announcements are just not having any impact on the share price, surely it is time to bring back Big Dave Lenigas. Cometh the day and all that.

Reader Poll: When will Avanti Communications shares go to zero
Avanti Communications (AVN) may try to con us into thinking that it is a bid target but the reality is that its best hope is that bondholders take a haircut in any takeover. that means shareholders face a wipeout. It is more likely that no-one bids and this is a zero. So when do you think Avanti is going bust. Vote now and before a midnight deadline in a reader poll. The shares are 22.5p today and falling. So vote early, vote often, vote below:

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Cloudtag, Starcom, Sunrise - Morons, like cockroaches, are everywhere & have few brain cells
Thanks firstly to those kind folks who showed some appreciation for the introduction to yesterday's bearcast - praise is always welcome. I am still in a bad mood so watch out for some choice French as I discuss Cloudtag (CTAG), Starcom (STAR), ECR Minerals (ECR), Kibo Mining (KIBO), Conroy (CGNR), Iofina (IOF) - in detail - and Sunrise Resources (SRES) and its broker Belfort Securities. Watch out it is placing ahoy at Sunrise as I explain in detail. Just do the math!
