ShareProphets readers tips for 2018 competition - end March update

Having asked for readers tips for 2018 for the amazing prize of a meal with Tom Winnifrith (or the chance to fob it off on someone you don't like) HERE, the following is a monthly update on performance (to be eligible needed to have selected, on a per username basis, a buy & sell pick from the LSE or AIM Casino and the stocks not to have been suspended at the commencement of 2018)...

Concepta – “showcased… at the Manchester Fertility Show”. Wow (not!). But there’s more

Concepta (CPT) has made an announcement commencing that it “is pleased to announce that it showcased its myLotus products at the Manchester Fertility Show on 24 and 25 March 2018”. Not exactly a groundbreaking occurrence!... but the company also “announced the forthcoming launch of its myLotus products in the UK at the event”

An Open letter to shareholders in Pathfinder Minerals

As you know I disagree strongly on a number of matters with Richard Jennings of Align Research but on the matter of Pathfinder Minerals (PFP) he is 100% right to want to oust the current management who are overpaid, inept and now acting in a way that puts their own interests ahead of those of the company. They are frequently accused of misleading investors. So we back Jennings in this case. He has written an open letter to his fellow shareholders which is hard hitting and raises very valid points. Over to Jennings.

The Woodford Easter Quiz – Odd One Out: The Result

Thanks for the few entries to the Woodford Easter Quiz. Although a couple of people got the odd one out and for the right reason, as I expected, only one person got it right and named all sixteen companies correctly so well done KayeSeraSera (again). A chocolate gift will be winging its way to you, probably in time for Christmas! Full results below.

Toff Tory Tim Yeo to go to court for £20m alleged AIM malfeasance - ring any alarm bells Sir Henry Bellingham MP of 3DM and Pathfinder infamy?

The Sunday Times reveals that slimeball ex Tory MP Sir Tim Yeo and four other former directors of now bankrupt AIM duffer TMO Renewabales face a £20 million court claim from administrators Duff & Phelps. I do hope that Tory Toff Sir Henry Bellingham MP of 3DM infamy and Nick "Not for the Many but for the" Trew of Pathfinder Minerals (PFP) read the piece.

SOS

All is not lost, don’t despair - I expect Sosandar and Woodford to spring back to life

As today is the day to celebrate resurrection, I thought it fitting to comment on a couple of stocks, namely Sosandar (SOS) and Woodford Patient Capital Trust (WPCT). Despite a difficult first quarter for the pair of them, I expect them to laugh death in the face and crack on from here bigger and better than ever.

DEADLINE MIDNIGHT TONIGHT: Competition Time: The Woodford Easter Quiz – Odd One Out

It being a major religious festival, I thought it appropriate to serve up another Woodford-related quiz. Simple on the face of it, just tell me which of the sixteen graphs below is the odd one out and why - a full answer is required other than the obvious. A chocolate gift to anyone who can go one better than that and name all sixteen companies. To assist on one of them, the graph is pre-share consolidation earlier this year.

Gold

Gold – a few observations

I have been a bit of a fan for gold stocks – through thick and thin – for perhaps too long. In hindsight I wish I’d sold out in 2011. However, I’ve been further chewing over the podcast from Pallisade Radio with Jordan Roy-Byrne which went up on ShareProphets since last week since my observation that gold stocks appeared to offer an opportunity.

The uranium market looks set for an upturn and Berkeley Energia will benefit - buy

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: The times they are a changin' (for the worse) in praise of Malcolm Stacey & Chris Bailey

The excitement mounts as the Winnifrith family heads off for a day at an owl sanctuary for that is the current obsession of young Joshua. Ahead of that I reflect on themes touched on by Malcolm Stacey today (HERE) and also Chris Bailey (HERE). I go far further than they do. The times they are a changin' and not for the better. Bring on the goats. If you like bearcasts then remember that at UK Investor on April 21 one of many highlights will be a live bearcast with myself and Paul Scott. Video: Crypto & Blockchain 101

Michael Pole has been a metals bug for a long time, and he is still bullish for that sector. He was working at Barclay’s in 2008 and witnessed the Lehmann collapse. Interest and development in the cryptocurrency space has been increasing and is beginning to upset the finance industry. He argues that it’s difficult for companies and governments to want to adjust to a changing market. This is allowing small companies to disrupt the existing status quo.

GKN: Melrose won...so give them a chance

Did you see the latest 52%/48% result on Thursday?  Thankfully it is nothing to do with Brexit but rather the finale to the contested bid for one of my tips of the year GKN (GKN) where the corporate fixer-upper Melrose (MRO) prevailed and in its words looks forward to creating 'a UK industrial powerhouse with a market capitalisation of over £10 billion and a tremendous future'.

Tesla. The Rout Begins. Sell at $255

In January I wrote that Tesla’s luck might be running out and suggested selling at $310 with a sub $100 target by Christmas. Having traded higher for most of February the shares closed last night at $254 where it is still massively overvalued at $43 billion.

Table of shorted AIM shares - week to 29/03/2018

From the FCA's spreadsheet of short positions required to be disclosed to it, the following shows the shorted AIM shares with positions from 2017 and thus far in 2018 (by net short position %) - and if this position has increased (red), reduced (green) or remained unchanged (black) since last week...

Bless the New Financial Year by Paying Peanuts for the Red Flags Which Could Save You a Packet

Hello, Share Scribblers. As the markets ain’t open for a bit, we have one of those windows where we can make general reflections on our share trading, rather than concentrating on individual stocks. So allow me to observe that risking money on shares is a very serious business. In fact, investment comes second only to health and love in the pursuit of a perfect life.

Sosandar – a loss on revenue of £0.9m, but continues to look set for take-off: STRONG BUY

Sosandar (SOS) has announced results for the nine months to 31st December 2017 – yes, they show a £2.1 million operating loss on revenue of £0.9 million, but remember its website only went live in September 2016 and momentum is very positive indeed…

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: at 5.32 PM the holocaust denying fraudsters at MySquar snuck out their interims

Bad language alert. The results are dire and demonstrate again the extent of the fraud that the useless wankers at AIM Regulation, Nomad SP Angel and the FCA are prepared to overlook. They show the extent of the lies told by CEO Eric Schaer. And they show a company that is running out of other people's money fast, facing a death spiral blizzard of share sales and where everyone involved deserves to burn in hell. With hard analysis of the numbers I explain all. If you like bearcasts then remember that at UK Investor on April 21 one of many highlights will be a live bearcast with myself and Paul Scott. QRT

Quarto – 2017 results include “expects a steady recovery”, but discounted fundraising ahoy?

Book publishing group Quarto (QRT) has announced results for the 2017 calendar year, including that “the group expects a steady recovery with some organic growth in Children's, softer foreign language markets, and continuing remedial action in the Adults portfolio, to drive improved cash generation”. The shares have responded… more than 9% lower towards 150p! Hmmm…
