Tungsten Corp – emphasises “operated profitably”… but has it really (with revenue growth below expectations)?
Tungsten Corp (TUNG) has updated on trading for its year ended 30th April 2018, including emphasising “operated profitably over January to April 2018 period”, “adequate working capital” and “our trade financing activities are growing rapidly”. Sounds promising…

Ariana – results: Good work, keep it up
AIM-listed Turkish gold miner Ariana (AAU) has posted its FY17 results. As promised, there are some details of the Kiziltepe joint venture, the results got a clean audit (as opposed to last year which raised the need for more funding) and Ariana has offered the clearest indication yet of an end to dilutive placings. Overall, it makes a pretty happy read.

Distil - a buy
Shares in alcoholic drinks brands owner Distil (DIS) headed towards 4p last year, but have since slipped back. A latest update though included continued strong growth in sales volumes and revenues, with “excellent progress” in brand building activities supported by distribution gains. We resultantly see value here and, ahead of results set for this month, the stance is buy…

Housing says we’re getting close
The early stages of a housing bubble are fun for pretty much everyone. Homeowners see their equity start to rise and feel very clever for having bought, those looking to become homeowners pay a good sum, but not too much, and fully expect their new home to keep appreciating. People with modest incomes feel a bit of pinch but can still afford to jump on board. But soon the bad starts to outweigh the good.

Centamin offers exposure to gold at a great price currently - buy
Centamin (CEY) has taken a big hit to its share price over the past week or so and has seen getting on for £400 million wiped off of the value of the company.

Julie Meyer, Jeremy Thorpe (played by Hugh Grant), Max Mosley & Jonathan Aitken odd one out result
There were many varied answers to the Sunday Odd One Out contest HERE. I am not sure that there is any evidence that Hugh Grant uses sex toys, unless of course you count hookers in LA as sex toys. I am sure some answers are correct. However what I was looking for is that the odd one out is....

Woodford Patient Capital Trust – Anyone fancy a low-risk 10% per annum return?
I’ve been meaning to write about the outrageous risk profile assigned to Woodford Patient Capital Trust (WPCT) for a while as it is patent nonsense and dangerous. I wonder whether there could be a mis-selling claim waiting to happen here.

Whatever Drives Cars, Johnson Matthey Should Navigate a Higher Share Price
Hello Share Trippers. Johnson Matthey (JMAT) is a play worth looking at. While some FTSE giants appear to be struggling at the moment, this company is doing better than expected. Its full-year income was 7% ahead of the previous year. Though its underlying profits were more or less unchanged at £525 million, the final dividend rises by 7%.

Sosandar – UK Investor Show tip update: still a BUY
AIM-listed Adam Reynolds float Sosandar (SOS) has been having quite a ride since I first commented on it following this year’s UK Investor Show at 12p to buy and tipped it at 13p – they are now up to 19p to buy so I guess that’s a 50% profit. I bought in at just over 15p and nabbed a small handful more on Friday at 18.46p.

Stobart: Great defence play by Team Ferguson in the Sunday Times today
Continuing my commentary on the fascinating public boardroom battle being played out at Stobart, I thought I would highlight the role that the media plays in these and other more traditional hostile takeovers as I must tip my hat to the home team and their use/manipulation of the Sunday Times today.

Tern: D-day (or is it C- or E-day?) approaches for Device Authority
AIM-listed jam-tomorrow IoT investment company Tern plc (TERN) has an interesting date in its diary at the end of this month, for on 30 June its recent loans to investee company Device Authority must be converted into DA stock or repaid (at 300% of principal!) Given the scale of the cash-crisis across the portfolio at FY17 (see HERE) it seems unlikely to be repaid, so what happens if/when the loan is converted, and why is it a problem for Tern?

Obtala – 2017 results not great, but still highlight real asset value: BUY
Obtala (OBT) has announced results for the 2017 calendar year, including emphasising “an increase in year over year revenues of more than 13x, provides clear evidence that the group is unrecognisable from its position just 18 months ago”…

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - it has been six bloody hard years
In today's bearcast I celebrate six years of being a full time investigative writer not a crony capitalist. I take issue with Roger Lawson on the deadwood press and how the view me but agree partially with him on Inheritance Tax. I explain why there is a flood of Julie Meyer material and why it is justified. I look at Alfa Financial (ALFA) and its 1 year anniversary profits warning. I update on the African Potash (AFPO) class action against its Nomad Cantor Fitzgerald and how things are moving and why this could be my crowning achievement. Finally.. we are almost at £5,000. We are seeking to raise £20,000 for Woodlarks. that will be a game changer for a great charity. 95% of listeners have not donated. To those who have I say thank you. Appscatter: Shareholders beware - this could collapse quickly
When investing at the speculative end of AIM, I think it is critical to try to avoid sudden disasters or unexpected suspensions as a sensible stop-loss strategy can usually deal with most other occurrences. Accordingly, I thought I would flag a potential issue in the making at Appscatter (APPS) as the current risk / reward pay-off looks way off.
