The View From The Montana Log-Cabin As Gold Slips On Trump Election Result

Gold closed the week at $2,684 – a drop from last week’s $2,736 as Donald Trump came home in the US elections with a clean sweep of the White House, Congress and the Senate, dispelling fears of unrest and uncertainty in the wake of a very close result. The polls got it wrong (again!) – it was a resounding win. The result was Gold slipping even as the Fed chopped interest rates again and the US stock market heading sharply north. So what now?

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Jubilee to more than double and Neil Woodford's oil bearishness overcooked

With the Mrs away with the kids it is a weekend for me of cooking what I will not be able to eat and of hard exercise. In the bearcast I discuss the oil price, Woodford and Trump and then why I expect my shares in Jubilee Metals (JLP) to more than double.

A disgraced fund manager turned share blogger warns about oil, bullish on Trump, UK shares and China

No not me silly, it is Neil Woodford and I hate to say it but the old rogue makes a valid point on oil. And that might mean fewer inflationary threats. More on that in bearcast later.

Empresaria – “sale of non-core subsidiary”, but still group financial concern?…

International staffing group Empresaria (EMR) has announced a business sale it states is in “markets or sub-sectors where we do not plan to invest… the consideration will be held on the group's balance sheet”. What about this from a current 28p share price, £14 million market capitalisation?

Mkango Resources: good companies just do not behave like this

Ferrexpo Trumps Bitcoin and Tesla combined in the MAGA rally

Two predictable beneficiaries of the Trump victory were Bitcoin and Tesla, up 8% and 14% respectively. A third, which was certainly not on my radar was, somewhat counter-intuitively, shares in London-listed, Ukrainian-based, iron ore pellet producer Ferrexpo (FXPO) which trumped both of the above with a stonking 38% gain before closing a mere 27% higher. Quite a few people regarded Ferrexpo as vulnerable to yesterday’s outcome on the basis that a Trump win is bad for Ukraine and what’s bad for Ukraine must be bad for Ferrexpo. But, in hindsight, the positive reaction makes sense.

CyanConnode – interims, was the fundraising to enhance growth and operational capabilities or mainly to keep the lights on for a bit longer?

Most recently writing on company describing itself as “a world leader in narrowband radio frequency mesh networks” CyanConnode (CYAN), in September I questioned is it funding to further enhance its growth and operational capabilities or mainly to help keep the lights on for a bit longer? It has now announced results for its half-year ended 30th September 2024 including emphasising that its “order book has demonstrated strong growth, more than doubling during this period from 6.3 million units at the start of the year to 13.1 million units… remain confident in meeting market expectations for FY”, but why then a current 9.5% lower share price response to 10.525p?

Argo Blockchain: No it really is a zero, a 'fess up and an AI spoof, 0p here we come

Following my expose c/o Evil Banksta yesterday morning, late in the afternoon Argo Blockchain (AB( issued a semi confession but also a spoof. At the time I was having an instrument inserted where the sun dont shine so Steve offered comment instead. It is, however, Argo’s shareholders who will be taking it up the arse. The shares have already slumped to 7.125p but they are still shortable and the target here is 0p.

Zamaz: more red flags as its goodnight Vienna!

Sifal, formerly Zamaz (ZAMZ) and Dispensa (DISP), the Dominic White created fraud is not dying quietly. Following my expose of its new “accounting technician” in his Taunton shed, Sifal delisted its bonds from the Vienna stock exchange. It thus avoids another aspect of regulatory scrutiny: rather than provide company information to Wien Bourse, it simply ran away.
