At 7 AM it is clear that the Tories are going to be able to govern alone for five more years. As someone who runs a small business, who would like the economy to prosper, to see jobs created and the deficit cut and who wants us all to have a say on Europe I rejoice. My only regret is that I was not with her wife and her lefty pals at their election night party as they tried to work out how to but the corks back in the champagne bottle.

Fully agree. The least worse outcome. I’m no Tory, but they will be better than the tax and spend Milliband and Balls, and the new anti-men laws Harman would have introduced. What we need now, is for the benefits culture to be strongly tackled, for immigration to be reduced (cutting benefits will result in this), and for the bottomless pit that is the NHS to be pruned.

Would have preferred a few more UKIP wins ~ 85-90 2nd places and c13% of the vote isn’t really evidence of support wilting away but coming 2nd doesn’t win anything. It’s a bit disheartening that c4million UKIP votes = 1 MP whereas SNP get 1.5m votes = 56 MP but that’s the system so little point bleating about it. A majority Conservative is next best option in my book as it at least gives us the EU referendum, assuming Cons deliver a fair not rigged one. Hopefully Farage will stay leader of the MEPs even if not the party.

I agree a good result, Milly should now go back to grass roots and get some experience running a business, the commons bacon sandwich trolley would be a good starting point for him. Balls has a future as a drummer and Cable can go back to his sheltered accommodation where he belongs. Clegg has no future in politics as he admitted making a mistake singing he was so so sorry and of course telling the truth is a no no. Nige stood up and kept smiling saying he was never as happy as he got beat, what a good sportsman, he is the only one I will miss with his pint in hand and cig in mouth. The quote I keep hearing various commentators making is what a ‘cruel’ night its been for some, maybe I am sadistic but I thoroughly enjoyed the cruelty to the would be rulers.

Disagree result is good for UK:-
Euro referendum in 2016. markets won’t like the uncertainty. Inward investment from EU and foreign co’s will be on hold – fearing tarifs
Scotland: referendum now on the cards. More uncertainty
electoral reform: Even Lord Ashcroft is saying first past the post has had its day. More uncertainty: what type of government will PR produce?
Also I think Libs who lost seats were capable, competent and rational. Something I cannot say about tories or UKIP for that matter.

Good for the UK Tory Boy? ………….. you must be flippin bonkers . Tiny majority , EU ref and tory party in fighting to come , rabidly aroused Scots reevers wanting justice , good politicians replaced by 21 year old college girl who knows nowt about out . Lib Dems raped to get tories back in and UKIP snapping at the heals on every by election . Just goes to show what you know about social justice and politics.
oh yeah …… you tool , complete tool . wanker , cocksucker , go feck yourself ;-) ……….. just getting my retaliation in first .

SNP landslide. An alternative scenario might be that Scotland gets independence, England has no North Sea oil revenue, England votes to leave the EU and loses all its European subsidies. All the top scientists move to Scotland to benefit from EU investment. England is left as a runt nation of car park attendants and security guards..

You’re having a laugh Angus ~ I hope Scotland are given full fiscal autonomy and Barnett formula scrapped. Current projections would result in Scotland having a £7.5bn deficit pa in funding against Scottish taxes raised. Sure an oil price increase would reduce this but then Scotland would be liable for all forward tax breaks and decommissioning costs for oil fields too.
You also seem to miss the fact that the UK is a net £9-10bn (gross c£14-15bn) contributor to the EU. Whilst some regions in England, Scotland and particularly Wales & NI get some money back this only represents approx £1 in £3 paid in by the UK ~ we’d be better off if we redistributed/reinvested our full contribution in the UK not the rest of the EU. As to top scientists going to Scotland you do understand that Scotland currently receives a disproportionate percentage of UK research funding don’t you? If Scotland chooses to go it alone that stops so it’ll be excellent scientists currently in Scotland flowing into the UK to be able to continue their research not vice versa! If Scotland leaves rUK companies have a question mark over c8% of their business (Scottish contracts) whereas Scottish companies have question marks over 92% (rUK).
If Scotland decide at some point to go it alone I wish them well but you are utterly deluded if you think rUK will suffer anything more than a hiccup given diminished NS oil revenues. If you need further proof of that you just have to look at UK economy now. Oil revenues have disappeared/tax breaks have been increased, yet UK plc continues as normal ~ in fact deficit this year will be less than forecast ~ because wider economy has taken up the slack. Your ‘runt’ comment is typical of the anti-English rhetoric from the nationalist camp. I think they should be careful what they wish for and the divisions they stir with the rUK as they will be totally dependent at least for the foreseeable future on rUK for a huge percentage of their trade. Scotland is not indispensable for the rUK although we’d prefer to stick together but for Scotland a hostile rUK would be ruinious.

McNugget, the SNP landslide will come back and bite it on its bum, better make the most of it as its all downhill from now on for you lot as Dave shows you that it will be back to business as normal despite your fantasy, back to business is what the majority of voters voted for. I will watch as little miss caviar and mr salmon hypocritical as he stands in the house of commons being taken down a few pegs. Reaching out with their hands of friendship to the rest of the UK, what tripe.
