How many share tickers can you remember? Of the hundreds that are floating around my head one of my favourites used to be ‘EEEK’ which stood for the eastern / central European focused soft drinks beverage producer/distributor Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling on the Greek stock market. I have to say ‘used to be’ because in a rare display of austerity the ticker today is a truncated ‘EEE’ which is much less memorable.

Interesting – I recall looking at them a couple of years ago as a recovery play but the price had already risen – after a Greek friend recommended I look. The one I would look at is Aegean airlines – low fuel costs will feed throug – Olympic fleet taken over. Personal experience is excellent. Well run airline

For what it is worth the sister in law & husband swear by Aegean always using it to fly back to the in-laws at Kalamata. the Mrs also a fan. I’m more a Ryanair ( kalamata) or Easyjet (Athens) man but might try Aegean on next trip.

Tom – I use them a lot as I work for a Greek company and we have an office in Thessaloniki and Athens. They have run a Manchester flight through most of the year now to Athens. They are cheaper than Easyjet on most weeks – this is not difficult since Easyjet I would no longer say is a “cheap” airline. I have to pay for luggage but at least I get a proper meal. I regularly pay 150-200 Euro each way for Easy. There are also many internal flights in Greece which they operate with no competition since Olymypic was swallowed up. I expect their margins to improve greatly through 2015 as the benefits of fuel savings and less competition work through. They also run a new fleet. Are there less people flying to Greece and around it? No. Now the only problem is the Athens listing and the Grexit risk…..I suspect the EU will be “flexible”
