Disclosure: I own shares in one or more of the stocks mentioned. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.
Having on Wednesday written on the recent dealings of IQE plc (IQE) directors with Equities First Holding LLC and on the same day contacted both the company and its Nomad, Canaccord Genuity, emphasising that further information should be provided and pointing to the questions my article raised, I have had no direct response from either, but note a 12:53pm Thursday announcement “to provide… further information”. As a minimum the directors involved have exercised exceptionally poor judgement, but they were wined and dined with a load of other companies and they are not alone and EFH have gained an acceptability factor through sponsoring the AIM awards. With a company like IQE shareholders really want their directors to be really savvy about semi conductors and related issues. It is therefore entirely forgivable that they got mugged by EFH. BUT ONLY IF THEY FESS UP COMPLETELY.
Keep the pressure on these guys Steve, they seem to be best placed to make a full confession and then move on and can therefore set the standard for full confession.
The rule book needs to be rewritten as a result of this – just make it simple, not more complicated: “Provide full transparency, if in doubt be more transparent, not less.” How simple a rule is that? This does not mean write war and peace in every RNS – “we have done this, here are the key points, the full contract is on our website.” How hard is that to achieve?
I have no doubt with AIM regulation and FCA” crawling all over this” (crawling like a traffic jam on the M25) they will eventually come up with a load of additional rules that just complicate things further and still have a load of ambiguities for the real spivs to exploit.
