Notes from Underground – Most read articles for the week ending May 10

By Darren Atwater | Sunday 11 May 2025

Nigel Somerville has returned to number one, including Bearcasts, with the most-read, non-Tom article with The View From The Montana Log-Cabin As Gold Correction Continues To Bite.

The most-read ShareProphets articles this week were:

  1. The View From The Montana Log-Cabin As Gold Correction Continues To Bite
Gold closed the week at $3,240 – down $78 since last week’s $3,318 as the long-awaited correction continues to bite, taking Gold stocks down too as can be seen on the chart below (courtesy of ADVFN) of Gold versus the mining ETFs GDX (majors), GDXJ (juniors) and GOEX (explorers).

  2. Will you pledge your shares in Optibiotix to sack chairman Neil Davidson and NED Sean Christie?
I believe Optibiotix (OPTI) will deliver month on month profitability later this year and that its shares are cheap. But following the latest share sale debacle I have lost patience and would like to see an EGM called to sack chairman Neil Davidson and his gimp NED Sean Christie.

  3. Touchstar – 2024 results, value recovery Buy
Industrial mobile data computing and managed services company Touchstar (TST) has announced its results for the 2024 calendar year and an outlook including “order book at start of year was £1,270,000 nearly double the level of prior year”. So how good is the news from a 75p share price, £6.2 million market capitalisation?

  4. Ocean Harvest Technology – after last month emphasising “positive momentum”, now “urgently” requires funding even “to be able to continue as a going concern”!
Most recently writing on company describing itself as “a leading researcher, developer and supplier of proprietary blended seaweed products as functional additives for the global animal feed industry” Ocean Harvest Technology (OHT), in August last year with the shares up to 9.5p I concluded including ‘it currently considered time for attempted ramptastic with funding concern?… sell’. The shares most recently closed at 5.25p and why is there now a “Strategic and funding update” announcement less than a month after the company announced “Strong growth in Q1 and minimal US Tariff Exposure”?

  5. Versarien: the Mad Hun writes again, 7 days away from VD day, apparently I don’t understand accounts
That is VD for Versarien (VRS) Doom day.

  6. Name the directors who’ve contacted BB Moron Letitrun to “call out” Tom Winnifrith
Over on the LSE Asylum a complete poltroon called Letitrun uses his anonymity ( how fecking brave) to accuse me of lying. He posts:

  7. Belluscura: the most dreaded words in the financial dictionary “strategic review”
Not only does it finally admit that it looks to be utterly screwed financially but Belluscura (BELL) has abandoned the “blame bad Orange man” excuse, it says Trump’s tariffs will have no effect on its business. But it is in such a hole that it has instituted a “strategic review” which is almost always a precursor to a grisly corporate demise.

  8. A letter to Steve O'Hara at Optibiotix
Steve O'Hara does not seem to want to take my call. So I have written to the Optibiotix (OPTI) CEO, ccing in his advisors. If you area shareholder who wants more transparency, cost control and regime change, please pledge your support HERE. I write:.

  9. Video: Gold is Signaling a Financial Reset is Upon Us
Trader Chris Vermeulen, states the bleeding obvious, that volatility has been extreme so far in 2025 across various asset classes, driven by factors like geopolitical tensions, AI advancements, and fears of an impending recession.

  10. SIG plc – two years ago “hugely enthusiastic” and “excited” CEO appointee now hands in notice of resignation
It has been announced that CEO of insulation and building products company SIG plc (SHI), Gavin Slark, has been appointed as the next CEO of building materials distributor Travis Perkins (TPK) and, whilst shares in the latter are up, shares in SIG have currently responded more than 14% lower to 15.445p. With though Travis Perkins an above £1.2 billion market cap FTSE 250 company and SIG having been capitalised at not much above £200 million, what about the SIG share price response?

The most-listened-to Bearcasts this week were:

    1. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast No 1: Conversation with Steve O'Hara, some progress & positive news from India
The podcast I refer to about my family and the war is HERE. I discussed the matters raised in my letter HERE with the Optibiotix (OPTI) boss. I sense we are making progress but if needs be I will pull the trigger on an EGM so keep pledging your support HERE.

    2. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast No 1: it's all about risk and reward
I start with a few thoughts on Jaya, aged 4, celebrating VE Day as a prelude to a my family in WW2 podcast later. Then two stocks I own, and why I love them both on a risk reward basis: Eco Buildings (ECOB) and a stock I don't write about and which will have Magna Carta frothing with rage in his asylum straightjacket on news today.

    3. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Unless bitcoin goes to more than $2 million this year, this stock is in big share price trouble
I start with the woes of Nigel Somerville, Minoan (MIN) and Smarter Web (SWC). Then it is Wishbone Gold (WSBN) and getting three facts straight, Optibiotix (OPTI) and Skinbiotherapeutics (SBTX). Sign HERE to stop Steve O'Hara crushing both share prices even more. Then Mirriad (MIRI) and a dead cat bounce, Empressaria (EMR) and FD Technology (FDP) both of which have received bids today. Here's why there will be more bids to come. Finally, 3 months and 30 days away, book your Sharestock seats today HERE..

    4. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Peterhouse, the Mail on Sunday and others disgrace themselves with The Smarter Web Company
I start with gardening news then a sack the chairman and NED at Optibiotix (OPTI) update, keep pledging your support HERE - we may be over 5% already. Finally the IPO of The Smart Web Company and today's coverage in the Mail on Sunday, this is a scandal and a disgrace at every level.

    5. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Shell to bid for BP? And we have 7% so can call an Optibiotix EGM but keep the pledges coming in
I start with Sharestock, book your seats now HERE. Then Shell (SHEL) and BP (BP.). Gold medals for myself and Gary on timing. Finally the latest nonsense from Steve O'Hara as we move towards an EGM at Optibiotix (OPTI). Keep pledging your support HERE

    6. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: I cannot get my head around the Symphony Environmental placing at 20p, it looks all wrong
I start with a moral quandry c/o the awful Daily Mail on the death penalty. Then Optibiotix (OPT), Versarien (VRS), Wishbone (WSBN), Technology Minerals (TM1) and the sound of silence and then Symphony Environmental (SYM), its shares are 138% up but placing news today makes no sense at all.

    7. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: has my late father gifted me a bonus £100,000?
I discuss this potential windfall c/o my late father. Then the gold price and gold stocks, notably Bluebird Mining Ventures (BMV), Argontex (AGFX), African Pioneer (AFP), Deliveroo (ROO) and the ghastly Predator Oil & Gas (PRD).

    8. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Argo's back but surely it is bust
I am Mr Toad back on the Road, how exciting!. The I look at Wishbone Gold (WSBN) where disgraced Gavin Burnell of Globo infamy and Hot Rocks has outspivved me, Pri0r1ty (PR1), a second blow for Dave Lenigas today, Belluscura (BELL), Upland Resources (UPL) and Argo Blockchain (ARB).

    9. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: I am now over 10%, keep pledgingIn today's bearcast I look at Optibiotix (OPTI), the standing of the London markets and the prospectus exemption scandal that needs addressing to stop rogues like Hemogenyx (HEMO), Genflow (GENF) and Predator Oil & Gas (PRD) duping shareholders. I am writing to the FCA about this matter this weekend.
