Security and surveillance systems company focused on specialist markets including gaming, oil & gas and public space, Synectics (SNX) was sold from the portfolio here early last year with we noting then that we still believed that there was longer-term value but that we were cautious of the near-term after an update from the company noted “timing of projects coupled with longer lead-times mean that results for FY2023 are now anticipated to be more heavily weighted to the second half of the year than previously expected”. Subsequent results for the company’s half-year ended 31st May 2023 showed adjusted pre-tax profit up to £0.7 million on revenue of £21.9 million – comparing to full-year forecasts for the pre-tax profit of £2.3 million on revenue of £45.4 million. However, there was then another trading update last month.
