Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.
I read with interest a puff piece for blinkx (BLNX) in the Money section of The Sunday Times. For the avoidance of doubt, despite receiving two lawyers’ letters from this company, I have always been a bear and remain so after last week’s dire profits alert as you can see HERE. But what makes newspapers print this shit other, perhaps, than that the journalists might get a cushy job on “the dark side” if they such enough PR cock for long enough.

You forgot to mention The Telegraph article on Blackorock’s massive short selling on Blinxx which gives longers absolutely no chance whatsoever. I;m in for a massive short sell too later during the week.

+ on a balanced point of view, Blinxx isn’t so bad compared to Naibu, QPP or Sefton. It still is in a financially decent state and in a steady sector.. Microsoft, Google and Co. have been up to serious ill practices in the past and been fined heavily. Blinxx, is still a short though as everyone I know is shorting this one.
views appreciated on this one Tom

Alex, I am long here albeit speculatively. I think there is a business hidden in there but won’t be holding long enough to find out. Additionally the director buys are positives for me…

Microsoft make Blinxx look like angels expect they have the marketing and probably to cover their tracks.

The Bull point for blinkx is the cash backing.
The bear points are that we do not now the cash position now & that the profits warning was so horrid, so soon after the bullish finals and so vague & unconvincing that earnings visibility really is zero.
Is it as much of a short as Naibu, sefton or QPP? No because we think there is a lot of cash there. But would I buy? er…No!
There have to be better bets on the long tack

Hi Tom, I’m currently long on Blinkx, shares purchased below the CEO’s latest price. Rationale – I think blinkx is more than just ad ware and the cash provides them with the opportunity to stabilise the company (and clean their house out if that is required). I wouldn’t be surprised if the blog spooked customers – that, together with pulling back on some revenue generators might explain the sales trend. It’s a short-term trade for me … I don’t think blinkx will be out of business anytime soon.
