Bushveld Minerals – The Breakfast with Fortune

I was meant to be cooking Fortune Mojapelo, the CEO of AIM Listed Bushveld Minerals (BMN) breakfast at Real Man Pizza Company but the fellow missed out on a cracking omelette as he failed to show. But I tracked him down later and we had a good chat.

Comments

  1. Blimey what a poorly researched article.

For example, to describe Bushveld’s assets as only having “some merit” is a gross underestimation, especially in regard to their world class vanadium asset.

This is thoroughly disappointing, and makes me seriously question the level of research that goes into any of the articles on this website.

  2. Libero

“world class” is a phrase used so often by mining companies that I wonder what class is above that?

If I use phrases like that I get accused of ramping. I therefore prefer to use phrases such as “real asset backing” and “with merit”

Sorry for not being as grossly overstated as yourself, not my style old boy.

Prefer to stick to doing thorough research and understatement

    Tom

  3. The fact that he did not show for a meeting with Tom says it all really . Does not want the light of a torch shining on the business.

  4. Wildrides

It is a tad bit strange isn’t it.

  5. Chaps

Just shows Fortune forgot to put the meeting in his e-diary. That is the sort of thing I do all the time. Nothing odd in it. He was very apologetic so we met later.

    T

  6. Tom Winnifrith

    Thanks for the clarification.

  7. Tom,

You make a very good point about how you couldn’t use such terminology without looking like you were ramping. Touche.

However I do not feel like I have “grossly overstated” Bushveld’s assets. Bushveld have 3 projects (iron, tin, and vanadium) and considering that Bushveld are on the verge of proving they have 1bn tons of iron, the company looks undervalued based on the iron asset alone.

Whilst calling Bushveld’s vanadium asset as world-class does sound a bit bolshie / perhaps a little premature, the company clearly has very significant vanadium resources. Very few companies mine vanadium, it’s a very high value metal, and demand for it is rising. It adds so much value to the company that perhaps you’re not (fully) appreciating considering you didn’t even mention it in your article.

Bushveld’s only real weakness is the lack of money to take full advantage of the assets they own but they’re clearly addressing this weakness effectively having signed an MoU with a huge Chinese company which is likely to lead to great things.

You say that you prefer to stick to “thorough research” but the site’s coverage of Bushveld Minerals in the past has highlighted the research has not been anywhere near what most people would call “thorough.” Although, as you pointed out previously, that was a different writer from yourself and – having run an online newspaper before – I respect that this is significant.

Apologies if I was too harsh or strong in my language when I was expressing my disappointment earlier. Many Shareprophets’s articles provide high-quality analysis and insight. Unfortunately this isn’t one of them, and I don’t think there’s anything you can do at this stage to change my opinion (of this particular article).

    Apologies once again,

    Libero

  8. A gracious retreat ………. I salute you as a gentleman sir .

  9. I hope Libero learnt something from this apology ….although it would have been better if he included an apology for his rudeness to Tom on Lse forums too.

There are many views on shares and not agreeing does not mean you can say anything about the other person including personal insults.

  10. Stop stalking me, Test.

  11. Tom, could I ask you – and/or James Parter (“Buy Bushveld Minerals. I was plain wrong”) – to take a moment to reassess BMN?

In recent weeks this has been something of a quiet disaster; currently languishing at 3.6p down from the 6s, without any of the usual AIM scandals to explain matters.
