Having spotted the appointment of another joint Broker to AIM-listed Bushveld Minerals (BMN) on 8 April – see HERE – I had wondered if it was placing ahoy. Last Thursday saw the suspension of the shares announced by AIM at lunch-time, pending an announcement, although it took until after-hours on Friday for the company to bother to comment.

You are right about not investing in something you don’t understand. However, if you look beyond the pointless estimates for share prices on return on LSE you will actually find that it is a very informative bulletin board. Almost uniquely so in my experience. Plenty of information and analysis on there to gain a much better understanding of the company. And this deal was suggested as a great way forwards long before the announcement which is why this has been received as such a ‘hallelujah’ moment!
No idea about the price or the timings for the announcements and I am sure that you are right about the need to raise finance which would undoubtedly include some form of placing. But provided the price is reasonable the deal really does set the scene to realise the value of the Vanadium assets contained within the company, particularly considering the nature of Bushveld Energy.
Considering the long suffering nature of shareholders in this and other AIM miners, it would be churlish to rain on their parade before the company is even out of suspension. Let’s see what the deal is and then it will be time to comment.

Nigel,
as you correctly state that you know nothing about Vanadium or the world of mining (rarified) I suggest you forget about criticising this stock, which is one of the very few on AIM that has been run with honesty and integrity and instead go after the real crims that Shareprophets specialise in. This is genuinely a transformative deal in the offing for Bushveld, bringing real production instead of theoretical many years closer without the normal huge setup costs.

JC, Sherlock – I will be very happy to take a positive view once details of the deal are known. It has indeed been a torrid time for BMN shareholders – as with the rest of the commodities sector – and I hope I highlighted the positive comment from the CEO adequately.
There are a few questions raised but there is clearly the potential for the deal to be a great one for the company.
Roll on the end of DD so we can see the full picture, I’ll keep an open mind.

I think that we are all agreed then. Let’s see what the admission document has to say and let the market decide when BMN comes out of suspension.
