Scotty admits that he is a bit of astake bull having called it consistently wrong (unlike Steve who has been 100% correct in being bearish to date) but insists that this time it will be different. In the interests of balance here is Mr Scott on a stock he does own.

Hi Tom,
As originally indicated, I accept that I got this one wrong originally buying around 200-300p, can’t remember exactly. However that was only a small position, and I loaded up heavily in the 90p Placing & Open Offer last year, after meeting management several times, doing a lot of research on the product. This included becoming a customer – I recorded some of my audiocasts using their software! It’s very good – reliable, and tremendously useful when integrated into a CRM system (e.g. for recruitment companies, to keep recordings of all phone calls with candidates & clients as an overlay onto their CRM system. The product is a no-brainer, once you actually use it & understand what it does).
So with the stock currently at 82p, and me having purchased the bulk of my own personal holding at 90p last year, I’m only slightly wrong in overall money terms. Am very confident that this will be in profit quite soon actually – the mood has totally changed. The company now definitively has enough cash to get to breakeven in 2017 – they set out the figures in the last RNS.
The new Chairman has done a terrific job in polishing up what was a great idea, but not being very well executed, into something that’s now going like a train. I seriously think that investor mood will completely change towards this company in the next 12 months, from bearish/fed up, to bullish. I think that will trigger a big re-rating.
It’s all about getting ahead of the curve with this type of stock, when they reach a positive tipping point. SNTY has been a dog in the past, but it got to a tipping point last week, and personally I’ve bought some more this week at up to about 83p, and will continue buying if I can free up some cash from something else if it stays at this sort of level.
When the facts change, one should change one’s mind! But I accept that bears like yourself will want more proof that it really is turning the corner. That’s fine, but you’ll have to pay more for the shares once that proof is in place.

So far you’ve called it wrong down from 300p, Steve M has called it right. I reprinted your comments for balance. I am not a bear, I really dont give a FF either way.

It’s not that simple. They botched a fundraising when SP was about 160p, doing it at 90p, as Instis not happy at that point. So providing you loaded up at 90p (which I did) in the fundraising, then average buy price is now c.110-120p. I’m pretty sure we’ll be back above that price fairly soon. So whilst the original call was wrong, it will end up being a nicely profitable position with a bit more patience, in my view.
Given that the facts have materially changed in the last week, then the smartest investors I know have changed their minds, and started buying back into Synety last week.
Although this one has certainly been a painful journey, and greatly reduced what little appetite I had for jam tomorrow shares. Am steering clear of nearly all of that type of thing these days – they always seem to disappoint, and most of them fail disastrously.
Keep up the good work exposing crap companies & dodgy management!
