I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.
I’ve been noticing a lot of chatter on Twitter about a small AIM investing company called Onzima Ventures (ONZ), so I decided to take a closer look to see if all the fuss was justified!

looks like typical pump and dump, but more organised and sophisticated.
My concern is when certain “investors” get cosy with directors, and social media seems to be well co-ordinated for maximum effect, and/or before placings. Is this type of thing becoming the ultimate scam.
Thats for forensic journnolists to investigate.

I just love it when a shitty little AIM investment company invests in another shitty little AIM investment company.
Some call them pranksters but the correct technical term is hamsters:

Interesting as well that Onzima hasn’t felt the need to RNS the fact that it sold it’s investment in GWIK – it is something I’d missed and assumed that the company still held that, so thanks to Tom for spotting and correcting that!
What always makes me really suspicious is when some tiny company that few have ever heard of before is suddenly being plastered all over Twitter and social media as if it is the next GSK! That is certainly a big red flag for me – although admittedly there is also the odd hidden gem amongst AIM and smaller cap companies (although often they are the ones that don’t get talked about – such as DOTD which I’ve followed since it was around the 11-12p area).
I did wonder if i was missing something, but from all the info i could find it would appear that Onzima will be in breach of its investing policy if it is committing to a loan of that size, plus the cash cost of the acquisition, out of a total pot that was only £650,000 to start with – just seems a bit strange to set the company up such that it’s focus will be investing in resource companies, and then to have it’s first proper investment (I don’t think you can really count flipping GWIK as an investment) in the pharma/biotech sector!
I wonder how many of the 0.7p placees from last October were still holding and took the opportunity to cash in – given the very low volumes they likely wouldn’t have had a chance to do so previously (certainly not with the amount of placing shares they’d have to have taken – assuming around £15k minimum to take part in a placing like this?).

Gary, if some of these twitter ramp companies were any good they would have propper investors, not the aim version of a davidi copperfield illusionists, creating value out of thin air.
GWIK, ONZ, CEB, SER, AREO, BOX … I could go on, all have the same names involved. No one investor is that smart or lucky. Its a momentary illusion of greatness.
There are some AIM gems emerging with substance emerginging FAST, MTR, MIN, UJO
but the too much hype from the same people means trouble.
