Hello Share Plinkers. You may recall that I am a strong supporter of some companies which have links with outer space. Or at least, with satellites. One such favourite has done exceedingly well for me. I refer to Inmarsat (ISAT) that great British space pioneer which does so much to link up people in inaccessible places. Like the top of Everest, for example.

Good morning Malcom
Remember this one.
I’m going well, I called Shell, I went well on Shell Shell Shell
It was a good call. I have decided to stay with it, but no more oil pollutions in Africa mind, a little more consideration for the environments is in order

I realise a Company is more than one man but the appointment of ex-Yell/hibu FD Tony Bates makes me uncomfortable about what I too think is a very exciting company. Shame really – their assistance in finding the missing Malaysian plane was most laudable.
Actually – and hopefully this isn’t entirely off-topic – one area of intense interest to outfits that insure the hardware that ventures beyond the ionosphere is apparently solar activity prediction. I got chatting with a bloke once who was involved in this (predicting not insuring). Seems that equipment failure due to associated electromagnetic surges, etc., is currently classed as an Act of God – that dubious clause designed to protect insurers from payouts associated with unpredictable events (I’m being reminded of Billy Connolly for some reason – I think a character he played tried to sue him in film?). If a probability could be legitimately attached to such events, however, this would preclude their classification as such and insurers could potentially face huge bills given the amount of stuff up there now were they not to modify their policies accordingly. Not entirely irrelevant, then, as this could only be good for companies such as ISAT, but – in any event – quite interesting I think.
