Hello Share Smoochers. I got so fed up with Centamin (CEY) the big Egyptian gold miner losing share value on a daily basis that I stopped checking its share price nearly a year ago. My shares just festered away with my most little-used broker. I half-heartedly hoped for a Shrodinger Cat-type recovery if I did not look regularly at the price.

In fact, according to Deutsche Bank, the gold to oil price ratio is the highest it’s been for over 100 years (effectively – I think – since records began).

That was Richard Dimbleby, father of Jonathan & David, for Panorama on April 1 1957 ( I think may have been a couple of years either side). It is the fact that it was April 1 that should give you a hint…

What – you mean that was a hoax?! I’ve not felt so cheated since it finally did dawn on me that Deckard was a replicant! Speaking of the Dimbleby clan, though, wasn’t it simply exquisite when David Starkey deflated both him and the princess of puff that is Victoria Coren somewhat on Question Time not so long ago by more than hinting that they might not have exactly made it on merit alone (fortune and poker aside), given the success and influence of their parents in the same respective fields? I seem to recall he gave the abominable Harriet Harman and Shirley Williams something of a drilling too. Shame he had to make ends meet by appearing numerous times in The League of Gentlemen – clearly beneath him.

Fair play to VC for taking a swipe at Mumsnet, though, and sorry for being off-topic (but Wildes started it)!

Malcom – if you have owned this for 3 years then surely you would have noticed it has been paying dividends since 2014 – so a boost to your current profit line! The share price is also being held back by the court case which never seems to make much progress!!
