Breaking news and expert analysis on fast-moving AIM and LSE listed shares

On Guy Fawkes night I reflect on the horrors of this day. Then news from ECR Minerals (ECR) and W Resources (WRES) prompts me to look at the mining sector in general. Then it is onto Amec Foster Wheeler (AMFW) and my thoughts on oil, oil shares, the oil price and oil services companies. Then to the dismal numbers from Canaccord Genuity (CF.) - what it says about the whole sector but also its company specific issues. Finally I take a swipe at Range Resurces (RRL)

Tom… advfn wont take down articles on copyright issues unless the complaint comes from the article owner. If Lenigas has been whinging to advfn…. it would have been on the issue that he feels they are defamatory. So anyone reporting your copy/paste articles to advfn, they will do nothing and say they cant do anything unless the owner of the article reports it.

Tom most people who cut-and-paste don’t mean any harm,they are simply following the example of others.Just to be clear,presumably you want people to read the articles on this site,so the problem has to be that the cut-and-pastes bypass the home page and advertising – correct ? Of course,some people will find out about Share Prophets that way and come back to visit it – so it is free advertising – but presumably,you don’t think there are enough of those ?

Daniel Victor, that is exactly how I came to know of shareprophets. Someone copied and pasted an article many moons ago on advfn… read the article.. and loved it…. and I then clicked the link…… bookmarked it. Free advertising so to speak.
Those who do copy and paste it are fans of the site…. and mean no harm…. it does get people to see first hand the quality of the content… and so can see for themselves the nay sayers who hate Tom as bullshit merchants.
Suppose end of the day its upto Tom.. if he feels its not the done thing, he’s within his rights.

It is theft of our work pure and simple. I have no probs folks posting a link but cutting the whole article cuts off our revenues - transferring the to ADVFN, iii, LSE etc who do not pay our writers - and I am gearing up to take someone to Court to make my point

you are right in technical terms of course but be careful you don’t shoot yourself in the foot there in real terms. I first heard about this site though such a pasted paragraph from your articles on the LSE. It made a lot of sense so I then came here and now I am on of your sites users. I suspect this is common.
If you scare anyone off from posting excerpts of your articles (links are usually removed) will you be cutting off your own flow of new customers? I think possibly so. The reality is how much business do you lose because of pasted articles? I doubt it is much, its not as if people are going to surf the BBs in large numbers trying to find you articles instead of coming here where they can get them at their convenience. the large majority who would be your customer anyway will probably just come to the source.
So will you be suing people who are stealing your work or people who are advertising it for you for free? your decision to make but I suggest you do it carefully as it may lose you more business than it saves you and it will also make you look like a total bellend. :)

Tom, i just dont accept your view of oil. The stats show steadily increasing demand, not to mention the fact that low oil prices increase oil consumption. Supply will without doubt have plateaud by now and be falling away rapidly over the next 6 months.
i really think you need to tip an oiler or 2 ;-)
