Last Sunday 61% of Greeks voted Oxi! In a referendum on the bailout proposals being offered to the Greeks by the banksters. They said no to a scorched earth policy of austerity without debt relief that will see more people leave, the population age, basic services crumble further and many facing no escape from abject poverty. Today, just five days later, PM Alex Tsipras, hero of the Oxi campaign, has proposed that Greece accept terms that are – if anything – worse. And there is still no debt relief on the table.

The shite comes home to roost in Greece , the country where the national sport it tax evasion. Why should they not retire later in life like us , why should they not pay back monies they borrowed in a wreckless manner via the means of higher vat and income tax payments . It all makes perfect sense . Let them off the hook and Spain , Portugal and the rest will want the same haircut on their loans . Perfect Karma …………… is coming for the Greeks . They need to take the medicine without gagging it back up . That means having tax collectors who know how to collect taxs and actually leave their their air conditioned offices and go and do it . It means chasing non tax payers and closing down the black market of VAT avoidance . Why should the Greeks pay 7% less vat than us . Ignore the bleating of Tom , the Greek apologist . He that is close to the matter is blind to the rational of his own judgments . He doth protesteth too much and much to frequently ( Yawn ) .Time and plenty of it ,favor the prudent . It is time the Greeks learnt the word and incorporated it into their own language . We, the prudent ones , are tired of the can , tired of kicking it down the road and tired of the Greeks winging like polecats . Never in the history of time has a once great nation ever moaned so long and so hard at the misfortune behest of its own ineptitude as the Greeks have done . For it is they and only they that maketh the bed in which they currently lie . May all the Karma in the universe land upon them and smite them verily until they comply . Only then will the meek forgive .

It looks like Tsipras has finally woken up to the untold misery that a Grexit would have placed on the Greek people, many of whom who currently or previously (if unemployed) worked for companies that deducted their tax at source, and are not the main culprits in this debacle. A return to the drachma would have been more devastating than the difficulties that a new deal would throw up. Greece does not export much so a depreciated currency would not help as much as Tom argues. A more likely scenario is a downward spiral that would be difficult to get out of. Greeks can thank their own corrupt political class for this mess, let’s hope Tsipras is not a left wing version of the same. If Greece demonstrates that it is serious about reform I believe that badly needed debt relief will be offered as Europe comes out of the crisis.

The Greeks through Sparta gave us the original definition of austere and as such is surely the home of Austerity.
No, I am not suggesting that all Greek males go to Sparta boot camp from the age of 7; survive on a bowl of soup per day. Yet, Tsiparas’s waist line suggests a couple of weeks there may be good for his belt line if not his soul.
The Greeks have had their socialist utopia and it has ended in tears, why? other people’s money has just run out.
Time to get real on tax rates, tax collection, enforcement and retirement age reality

Alex, you’re missing one rather obvious export Greece does have – tourism. It’s potentially a huge source of external funds. I was in Athens for the first time a few weeks ago, and would happily go back there.
Wildrides, you’re still missing the fact that without the ability to print and devalue their own currency, the Greek debt is unpayable. Each member of the Greek population effectively owes $34,493. How many people do you know who could readily get their hands on that? You complain about Tom protesting too much and frequently, but you’re starting to sound like a broken record on this aswell.

The debt can be repaid ………….. just spread the repayments out over 60 years like we had to do to pay back the Americans for our war loans borrowed from them (and only very recently paid off ) FFS get a grip on reality . If you borrow from others you must pay it back . Repayment should not be optional.
Let the Greeks be smited verily until they honour their debt . Smite them and then smite them some more , and just for good measure smite them again .
