Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.
The stockmarket has taken a two day thrashing but the odd company has bucked that trend and such outliers perhaps merit investigation. That brings us to Guscio (GUSC), an investment company born out of a failed media business. Its shares trade a touch better today at 9.125p valuing the enterprise at just over £1.5 million.

This made me smile and warrants using your own translation service on it
“Such outliers perhaps merit further investigation” – or perhaps not but ages ago we promised to mention Guscio 3 times on the site by the end of June and today was the last day possible so we had to come up with some tenuous link.
“Makes supporters think there could be massive potential” – by definition the supporters like this business but we aren’t giving a view as we have no idea whether a deal with Charlton is going to make a difference here although doubt it.
“..some high profile backers including Nigel Wray (Britain’s Buffett)” – we are contractually obliged to use the phrase Britain’s Buffett whenever we mention Nigel Wray although we accept that Warren wouldn’t get involved in a deal like this in a million years
“It might be worth a small flutter” – or might not but we’re not going to give a strong opinion as we don’t believe in it but are doing a favour to a mate
“By ShareProphets” – no individual writer is willing to put their name to it
Heading “Guscio – What’s afoot” – meaningless enough, let’s go with that
More seriously, I pay you a (small) monthly subscription to help you do all the good work on the likes of QPP, WRN, NEW, all the Chinese stuff etc etc so would prefer you didn’t have these sorts of articles.
However, I appreciate a bit of mutual back-scratching is required in your industry so could you just add some additional wording to the disclaimer of these articles along the lines of “This is an advertorial to assist the ramping of a friend’s company in advance of a placing but no one at Shareprophets would actually invest in this business”

a) 3 mentions in 1 year – hardly excessive
b) something is happening
c) In the scheme of Wray’s wealth this is peanuts
d) no-one has spoken to wray about it
just getting facts right…

Tom – any thoughts on today’s ridiculously discounted placing? Hope no-one followed your tip here!
