The big flaw in your argument is that only Labour are spending other peoples money . They all do that . Vote labour for a higher living wage for Toms pizza emporium staff . Labour has promised to spend within income during this term of 5 years and reduce the deficit .
The money tree has infact been dug up from its home in the shires and replanted in Scotland ………..the land of fiscal responsibility ………. bring back the highland clearances .

An interesting debate. Given the audience an unsurprising defeat for the motion.
I’m sure, Richard Poulden is aware, that the annual UK/EU trade deficit is truly massive and to try and infer that somehow, Britain would loose trade and jobs by leaving the EU is very misleading when you consider how much worse off our European trading partners would be if they ever considered ‘punishing’ Britain by levelling duties or quotas against our goods and services to them.
The figures as answered by Lord Livingston of Parkhead to the question raised by Labour Peer, Lord Stoddart of Swindon (Hansard 02.12.14) said: The UK’s trade deficit with the European Union was £28.5bn in 2010, £21.7bn in 2011, £39.5bn in 2012 and £56.2bn in 2013.
So much for the government’s much heralded, recovery through export initiatives, then!
Indeed a very valid argument can be made that the UK would be infinitely better off financially by leaving the EU, let alone the blessings of non-adherence to damning political interference by European Directives and Regulation.
Nope, I reckon the only folk likely to loose their jobs are a few miserable politicians, their staff and a bunch of bureaucrat administrators.
Hence, I believe that Richard’s thesis was flawed, though I assure you I have no love for either party and consider them both full of lack lustre, greedy, self serving, career centred, spineless individuals with not one true conviction held by the whole lot of them!
