The bear raider Evil Knievil is of the opinion that The Tories should announce that jockey Tony McCoy be made a life peer before The Grand National for reasons that I do not quite understand. I assume that this is election pandering to the Upper Classes in the way that Nick Clegg tries to win the chav vote by taking a selfie with Joey Essex. But Knievil is not backing McCoy to win the National.

I’d advise anyone who’s never tried on-line betting to consider taking advantage of pretty much every special offer for first time users (only) that they can find, purely in the context of small flutters for beer money. These seem to generally take the form of a free bet or enhanced odds or something similar. I did so for the last World Cup and think I’m correct in saying that after the first stage I’d managed to hedge so comprehensively that I couldn’t actually have lost. I didn’t go on to win anything on the EK scale but the final return was more than pleasant.
I was looking at Godsmejudge just a few moments ago – Sky Bet were offering 22-1, but went each way on each of Shutthefrontdoor (McCoy), Many Clouds and The Rainbow Hunter. I know next to nothing about horse racing, I hasten to add, having only been to a race course once and that was Aintree to catch Michael Jackson as a kid in ’88 (got caught up in the buzz – wasn’t really a fan at the time). Add to that the owner of Many Clouds being the man behind Pontins (yeah – tee-hee) and that’s three trips down memory lane I’ve had here today.
PS I’d usually advise that people do the opposite of what I advise but this seems quite sound…

Cheers 2+2=4. At one point – with only a few fences to go – I thought my 66-1 outsider The Rainbow Hunter was going to win (not a good jumper it seems), but gloating is always bad form so I shan’t quote Meat Loaf (first five places paid)!
