Oil companies are a favourite with private investors, but in recent times it has been hard to actually make a profit from them, unless you’ve been shorting. The market is now very different to how it was back in 2010, when throughout the oil sector we saw some crazy rises, especially amongst some of the smaller explorers.

Great advice Gary . I find it hard to maintain motivation to follow an individual share price unless I have a small holding in that actual share . I then double or treble up this holding from my base line holding according to the point that the share has reached in its “swing cycle” . Like you I find this works very well and keeps my monitoring levels highly motivated, which in turn improves results on short term trades .

Daniel – yeah, I thought it was FOGL along with another two. Planning to sue in the international court, I believe. Can’t see it coming to much myself.
