For the benefit of one reader in particular this podcast explains the difference between a share tip and a ramp, it explains pump and dump, it looks back to historic cases such as the City Slickers and explains why Bulletin Board Morons use the words differently to normal human beings.

Naaaaah ! Wrong , wrong , wrong .
A ramp is just an unjustified overly positive commentary on a share and a de ramp is the opposite . It can have any of several motivations and not all of them involving money gain for the commentator .
Your confusing ramp with an actual investment in the share commented on ………….. that comrade Winnifrith is a “Pump & Dump” and its reverse ( for shorters ) the Diss and buy . Neither of which I mentioned in my comment .
The common usage meaning of the terms , as with any English Language word , is its contemporary usage , which is why our English Language evolves and so does the recorded meaning in our dictionary ( with some lag ) . Thus the most popular usage is correct ……… ie that usage which you say is that commonly used on bulletin boards . Any way me thinks thou protesteth too much my lord . Its like having a debate with a stroppy teenager about the meaning of what is “hot” and what is “cool” . I apple ogie for any offence taken by you or Oakley , so go screw your self ;-) ( just getting my retaliation in first with the screw yourself bit , I cant screw myself actually because my dicks not long enough )
Now Kiss and make up ……….. pucker up …………….MMMMmmmmmm ………..go on ….you know you want to………………..MMMMmmmmmmmm

Theres that rule about investing in “ investment companies” and the one about what happens when red hot management meets a shite company and who wins the encounter . Ooo00h Wilders ……… you just cant let it lie ……. you just cant let it lie

I invoke Quantum mechanics, ramp = positive spin, deramp = negative spin, then they all disappear down a blackhole, as should this debate comrades, and overseers of the galaxy.
