Why both my pension fund and I are passing on an ice cream from Unilever

What is your favourite Unilever (ULVR) product? Whilst some of you may mention Hellmann’sColman’sPercilDove or even Domestos, I guess the majority of people will say at least one of MagnumCarte D’OrBen & Jerry’s or Cornetto. And collectively, for a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) business, it is always fantastic to have great brands. So, is it good or worrying news that this morning’s first half results from the company show less than 50% of its products are taking market share? And what does the new CEO think about all of this?

More management change excitements in the FTSE 100 (and beyond)

I am sure there are lots of people thinking about the pound today, but hopefully you are much more of a global investor than your UK-centred cost base will need. As even the Americans will learn over the next generation or so, it is about so much more than apple pie, the right to bear arms and the dollar. Anyhow, onto other matters. Shall we talk about job changes again?

ULVR

Stuff going on at FTSE 100 giants Unilever and Glaxo!

I honestly do learn something about the markets every day. I am not a Unilever (ULVR) shareholder but Domestos, Lipton, Hellmann’s and Magnum are far from disastrous brands. The attempt to buy the GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) consumer business a few months ago failed miserably though and has helped dump the Unilever share price about 18% over the last year at the close yesterday. But why is the stock up 6% today?

Busy last week in the investment world...but an even busier one to come!

If you are a big follower of the global investment markets, then it has been a busy last couple of weeks.  Such is the nature of the timing of the quarterly earnings season in the US or Europe.  UK listed stocks on average tend to report a little bit less frequently, although as many companies are now global players there are more and more detailed quarterly updates nowadays.  Even with my typical larger cap focus, expect some fascinating disclosures from well-known UK listed names over the next five days in a bunch of different sectors.  It is all good fun from my perspective.

You're misquoting me. I said that OPTI management would have to have no intention of selling a non-current asset within 12 months. That's the definition of an NCA.Plenty of time for an SBTX RNS today. But maybe the MM knows something as the prices I'm being quoted are higher than at yesterday's close and I can sell double the number that I can buy.

I see you point re Restore. The problem is that Restore is offering (in theory) what Reform won't. Farage has gone from being an outlier to full on establishment. He has appointed some terrible people to Reform such as Zahawi and some of the people that stood for Reform at the council elections are exactly the sort of people we don't need in the UK. The majority of people here want all illegal migrants deported as well as foreign criminals, Restore will, Reform won't and there is a whole lot more that Reform should do but won't.With respect your comment re an alliance with the Tories defeats the whole purpose of why Farage (supposedly) set up Reform and that was to finish the Tories who have proved to be almost as left wing and destructive as Labour, any alliance there would just be an extension of the uni-party and for any Reform supporter to want this alliance is crazy. Remember that Restore only started because Farage has messed up hugely and also tried to get Rupert Lowe jailed over false allegations. Farage has repeatedly stated that he does not want to become PM and I predict him standing down, he has said he he happy to, letting in Zia Yusuf, who I quite like, but will finish the party.

Kefi will comment. Had been widely flagged as coming - first reported as on the cards in Augist. 4 of groups nobody has heard of then it your Oromo pals and TigrayPF. They still face africa's largest army. IU will post later but its not changing my view.As for SBTX you told a balance sheet porky, I corrected it. You think I should not? And as for the update promised mid Sept... still not here

With respect, Sunday's televised announcement that seven Ethiopian armed militia units have amalgamated in order to bring down the government, thus surely signalling that KEFI is a dead duck for the foreseeable future, was probably more worthy of a late night "hot" bearcast than your speculative/desperate/petulant attempt to undermine an SBTX share price rally.https://addisstandard.com/seven-ethiopian-armed-groups-formally-announce-formation-of-a-coalition/You seem to be obsessed with both companies but chose to ignore or delay the KEFI hard news in favour of rehashing your doom-mongering SBTX conjecture…even though there must now be many more SP subscribers invested in KEFI than in SBTX.I very much hope that your considerable and recently topped-up personal investment in KEFI wasn't the reason that you held fire last night on a major news story which really didn't need any further research.
