Rio Tinto shares look relatively cheap compared to those of its peers - buy

With the recent uncertainty over the worldwide impact of US tariffs and concerns over future economic growth in some countries, including China, commodity prices have generally been pretty volatile and mixed, in terms of direction and strength. Despite all that is going on, I’m not convinced countries are about to just destroy their economic growth, and especially in the case with China, it has already shown that it can still grow the economy despite a downturn in exports to the US.

Two Nasty Wars Directly Affect Share Prices. How Should we Play it?

Hello Share Gatherers. You'll be uncomfortable discussing this subject. But even in the throes of horrible war, life for most of us, and our trading of shares, goes on. So perhaps we can live with our guilt about assessing which shares will rise and those that’ll fall because of the two hideous current conflicts.

Is It Worth Flying to Rio? Probably and Here's Why

Hello Share Thrashers. I’ve not commended Rio Tinto (RIO) to you before but I think it’s become worth a look. Unlike many jumbo miners, this outfit has a keen eye on future trends. And, if ever there was a strong trend that’ll climb even stronger, it’s the increasing support for green types of energy. To this end, Rio seems like an unlikely contender. But not so.

Mega company Wednesday excitement – Rio Tinto and Lloyds Banking Group

Whilst I am sure many of you have rolled from eating pancakes yesterday to reading the poetry of T. S. Eliot today, I keep on cracking on with the global corporate earnings season – and this brings me today to Rio Tinto (RIO) and Lloyds Banking Group (LLOY) (one of which I think is cheap and one of which I am glad I do not own).

Rio Tinto total return love and fingers crossed hope for Wood Group

There was not too much to be excited about for Rio Tinto (RIO) shareholders today on the publication of its first quarter production results. I remain a big fan of the mining name as I noted a couple of months ago, and whilst its core iron ore business had negative growth this was largely expected and should improve as the year progresses. Apart from very firm metals prices versus historically, the other opportunity for the company over the 2020s remains everything else it is doing – or, as it put it in the update, “we made notable progress during the quarter with the commencement of underground mining at Oyu Tolgoi following a comprehensive agreement reached with the Government of Mongolia, completed the acquisition of the Rincon lithium project in Argentina, and signed a framework agreement at the Simandou iron ore project in Guinea”.

These groups in Ethiopia seem somewhat like the Provisional IRA, 36 years attacking the UK. Even after the 2005 ceasefire splinter groups have emerged. The UK just carried on. Just with higher security. These groups in Ethiopia could carry on for years, all it will do is further impoverish the country and the areas they operate in further. That is how war works in Africa perhaps everywhere. If guns were freely available in the UK, I really could see it here, luckily only the criminals the police and farmers and a few others have access to guns.I could see the far left using them against the middle of the road reform and restore but the left would only use them in the name of peace.Enough talking bollocks and back to Kefi.I thought about another 750,000 this morning, but that is the money to see me through to Christmas and I thought if I told the mrs we were just having soup till Christmas, I would be in trouble. These things often come in threes so one more lot of bad news and I might buy, plus I will have had some more dividends by then. If they fly before I have the cash I am quids in anyway. So much to think about and so much to weigh. The same i imagine for every investor. Now down £1900 on kefi in my sipp but up £800 on AMRQ. These are the only two non dividend stocks in my SIPP. Just waiting for the first dividend from AMRQ,next year maybe. KEFI perhaps three years or never.Shares, pension so exciting but no one else knows!
