In 2021 Law giant Baker Mckenzie signed a declaration by several big law firms to rid the world of the evil of anti semitism. The words were strong as you can see below but words are one thing.
Last week a Manilla outfit Quisumbing Torres, which is part of Baker Mckenzie International so affiliated to the giant but not part of it served a $10 billion SLAPP on myself and my wife. That in itself will land various folks in the soup. But it’s worse…
The underlying client, Mr Paul Mathieson has written to Bristol University where my wife is an Emeritus Lecturer and to Cambridge where my son is a student asking that they be investigated because I am a Zionist. And he wrote twice to Palestinian campaign groups asking that an event my wife was organising be attended by their members because of my Zionist beliefs.
He also sent me a death threat.
With a number of Jewish guests then fearing for their safety my wife had to bring in paid security to reassure them.
Does Baker McKenzie believe that acting for such an individual sits well with its stated condemnation of anti semitism?
