At around this time every year for the past ten years, Tom Winnifrith has written a piece predicting the end of the Euro by Christmas. Despite the undoubted power of Tom’s pen, the Euro is still with us and is still carrying out its vital task of making European business more efficient and competitive. The reason why Tom makes a fool of himself every year in this manner is that he has no grasp of the importance of the European ‘project’, or what it means to our fellow Europeans.

Although I did not need to make my mind up about the EU vote, I ‘elected’ to read every single point of view from ShareProphets about Thursday’s elections – and well done for taking such a clever and honest approach for your readers.
All I can say is that I left this article on voting LibDem to read for last and it just made the most sense to me than any of the sometimes highly disagreeable articles for doing otherwise.
It says all the things that were already on my mind and then some, but even keeping a neutral approach one can see the logic and common sense of voting LibDem on this occasion as opposed to any of the other options.
I especially agree with the case made against that ‘fruitcake’ party I would rather not mention, that is stuck 150 years behind the times and still thinks of ‘Rule Britannia’ and understands NOTHING of what the European Union is really all about, as well as of what the World really is nowadays and especially will be in this century. I find their case for replacing EU trade with a ‘Commonwealth resurrection’ particularly naive, dumb, short-sighted and ridiculously antiquated, not to mention going alone on the global stage in the same fashion as nondescript countries like Norway, Iceland or Switzerland, which have nowhere near the history, prestige and potential of the UK. Even talking about still keeping some trade with the EU after exit is plain folly: if Britain does such an insulting act as getting out of an established political membership, the EU partners will seal the door forever, you can bet your **** on that.
I think that party just spells political, economic and social suicide for Britain and I still can’t believe how many are prepared to vote for them so foolishly.
My main hope is that Thursday’s elections won’t be the first step into hell for Britain, and that some common sense will prevail. Hopefully this article will help, for those who bothered to read it.
