Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.
I approve of AIM companies doing rights issues rather than discounted placings to City insiders. But not when the company in question is, to use the technical term, fucked. That brings me to dual listed Scotgold (SGZ) which, I have noted before on this website, is a total POS.

Pretty much puts it in a nutshell.
I invested 16 months ago at 4.5 and sold a few months ago at 1.6.
Looks as though I have been one of the relatively lucky ones…..

Unlike some, they do at least have an oven-ready gold asset in a semi-civilised place. And the plan to cream off the easy, high grade gold from the top and send it elsewhere for processing might just save the day – even at current gold prices.

Trouble is though nobody wants to stump up the money to fund the development of the mine.
The idea of creaming off the high grade gold would have been put into practice ages ago when it was already apparent that funding wasn’t there.
The scenario now is a penniless pig in the poke.

Nat le Roux doesn’t seem to think that Scotgold is a joke.
And shareholders who supported the fully-subscribed rights issue are currently showing 100% profit.
I must declare an interest: I bought 6m shares in the rights issue.
