Global adult obesity rates have steadily increased in the past few decades, more than tripling from 5% to 16% from 1990 to 2022. This map shows obesity rates in 2022 in each U.S. state and territory. Obesity is defined as having a body mass index (BMI) equal to or greater than 30.
