Houses, planes and a military contract win (for BAE). Welcome to the final quarter of the year!

Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.

I know some analysts will be very excited that the latest Nationwide house price survey was flat in September. Reality is still more sensibly covered by the just over 5% year-on-year house price fall (predominately in London and the South East). I still see that the nearby to me seller is still struggling to do a deal, and I am sure that is a reality in many places up to a hundred miles away from the big smoke. Volumes remain horribly mixed at best and, if you want to do a deal, it is most certainly a buyers' market. If you are not desperate to sell, my advice would be to wait until March next year (and to be realistic even then).
