AO World may have made an actual proper profit…but I still prefer Currys

By Chris Bailey | Wednesday 5 July 2023

Disclosure: I own shares in one or more of the stocks mentioned. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.

I am a bit grumpy about SIG plc (SHI) saying that the rather mixed world means that, despite it expecting to deliver a “full year underlying operating profit within the current range of market expectations”, it expects it to be “towards the lower end of that range”. I am not hugely surprised, but my instinct is that the stock is still worth holding onto and, following its formal H1 numbers on 8th August, I will write more (and might even buy a few more shares as it is one of my smallest positions). A bit more fun for next month, but today I want to talk about AO World (AO.).
