Emphasising itself as “the UK’s most trusted electrical retailer”, AO World (AO.) headlined its June-announced results including “REVENUE GROWTH OF 11.4%, WITH ADJUSTED PBT UP 16.1% TO A RECORD £50.5M” and also noted “a new share buyback of £10m” with Chief Executive John Roberts emphasising “I started AO 26 years ago with a small team and a big idea and I’m as excited about the next 26 as I've ever been” with the shares then above 94p. With the shares at 98.4p, what about now a “Director/PDMR Shareholding” announcement?
Most recently on electricals retailer AO World (AO.), in April with the shares up to 95p I wrote ‘“incredibly proud” of Trustpilot reviews milestone (hmmm!), what about financial performance?’. What about now full-year results emphasising “revenue up 11% to £1.27 billion, profit up 16% to a record £50.5 million, and the strongest balance sheet in our history” and the shares currently slightly down at 94p?
Following a “Full Year Post-Close Trading Update for FY26” shares in electricals retailer AO World (AO.) are up from below 90p to now 95p with founder CEO John Roberts emphasising “incredibly proud”. How’s the valuation now relative to the company’s performance?
Electricals retailer AO World (AO.) has announced results for its year ended 31st March 2025 emphasising “a record profit before tax performance, significantly grown our sales” and “fantastic momentum that we're seeing across the business”. So what about a currently approaching 3% lower share price response towards 98p?
Hello Share Grabbers. This ancient baby boomer is fed up with others in my group. Too many of them buy shares in tobacco companies, arms dealers and firms that still test on animals. Not quite right, in my humble opinion. But what do I know? That off my chest, let me commend to you a company that sells electrical stuff.
Electricals retailer AO World (AO.) has issued a trading statement including that it now expects its year ending 31st March 2024 adjusted pre-tax profit “to be at least at the top of the previously guided range of £28-£33m” and that it “remain confident in our ability to deliver on our ambition for 10-20% revenue growth in the year ahead and medium-term profit guidance of 5% adjusted PBT margin”. What about this with the shares currently back up to above 100p in response?
I am a bit grumpy about SIG plc (SHI) saying that the rather mixed world means that, despite it expecting to deliver a “full year underlying operating profit within the current range of market expectations”, it expects it to be “towards the lower end of that range”. I am not hugely surprised, but my instinct is that the stock is still worth holding onto and, following its formal H1 numbers on 8th August, I will write more (and might even buy a few more shares as it is one of my smallest positions). A bit more fun for next month, but today I want to talk about AO World (AO.).
A couple of months ago I observed that “I am happy to keep on avoiding AO World (AO.) as a place to buy a new computer (or a few shares)”. Funnily enough, the share price then is almost within a penny of the company’s share price today despite the formal news this morning that “AO World…announces that Frasers Group (FRAS) has acquired an 18.9% strategic stake in AO with the purchase of 109,400,000 issued shares at a price of 68p totalling an investment of £75m”. Not a bad short-term purchase, given that AO World shares are up c. 7% this morning to 74p a share…
