Notes from Underground – Most read articles for the week ending 27 May

By Darren Atwater | Sunday 28 May 2023

The most read non-Quiz, non-Tom article last week is by Chris Bailey, It might be a bit more about chickpeas nowadays and China rather than Coca-Cola, but Tate and Lyle shareholders should still love it, at No 3 or No 9 including Bearcasts.

The most read ShareProphets stories this week were:

  1. My 5 takeaways on the Optibiotix presentation yesterday
The slideshow below is that given by Optibiotix (OPTI) in a capital markets day yesterday. I have a few takeaways.

  2. BREAKING: Photo article: Chill Brands and its UK distributor – Ray Ingleby calls me!
On Saturday and Ray, the owner of The Vaping Group Ltd – the new UK distributor for Chill Brands (CHLL) nicotine free vapes – sent various messages about how he wanted to talk urgently. After 4 onerous hours of family chauffeuring duty, I called back and we had a long chat. It was most illuminating.

  3. It might be a bit more about chickpeas nowadays and China rather than Coca-Cola, but Tate and Lyle shareholders should still love it
Back in February, I called Tate and Lyle (TATE) - a world leader in ingredient solutions for healthier food and beverages, operating for over 160 years - “Tate and Smile”. Does that still make sense and am I going to buy more shares after pacing through Thursday’s full year numbers?

  4. TINGO Part 1: The Rogues Gallery
I have never thought that the theory “there is no such thing as bad publicity” holds much water. The company I shall expose in a two part series supports my belief. It is currently valued at more than $500 million, or, arguably, far more on a fully diluted basis, and is shortable. This is a zero and one should be short.

  5. Photo article: rogue Bloggers 18 mile training walk to wonderful waterfall but disaster back at the Welsh Hovel so article problems
As I left the Welsh Hovel this morning I thought that I smelled gas at the top of the street. I thought little of it for an 18 mile training walk was planned and I had left early without any procrastination. I pressed on.

  6. Doc Holliday does his conkers on More Acquisitions but its statement just does not add up.
Fresh from doing his conkers on going long of Versarien (VRS) it seems that the scouse penny share hustler Doc Holliday has come a cropper once more buying 8 million shares in More Acquisitions (TMOR) at a penny. Oh dear, More is rapidly becoming less as its proposed RTO of Megasteel is, er renegotiated.

  7. Eneraqua Technologies – “pleased to announce” results. Er, what about the massive profit warning for the current year?!
Previously writing on energy and water systems company Eneraqua Technologies (ETP), in March with the shares heading down towards 300p I concluded that, with client budget pressures, how reassuring is the stated order book for the near-term ahead really? Considering also the valuation, avoid. The company today states that it “is pleased to announce its preliminary results for the year ended 31 January 2023”, so what of the shares currently more than 30% lower at around 180p?!

  8. Gulf Keystone carries plenty of political risk until production resumes, but the upside makes it worth taking at this stage - speculative buy
As you would expect, Gulf Keystone (GKP) has been severely impacted by the suspension of oil exports from Kurdistan to Turkey, following Iraq’s victory in an international arbitration case which deemed that some aspects of the deal between the other two parties were illegal.

  9. The ShareProphets Sunday Pub Quiz #189
It's time for the ShareProphets Sunday Pub Quiz.. There are no prizes! And remember, no Googling!

  10. Empresaria – having in August last year been “optimistic about the year ahead”, how’s an AGM trading update now?
In August last year international staffing group Empresaria (EMR) was “optimistic about the year ahead as the demand for talent is strong despite the global macroeconomic uncertainties”. With an AGM trading update from the group today, how is that playing out?

The most-listened to Bearcasts this week were:

  1. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - how on earth did Wishbone's Richard Poulden get into Oxford?
I suspect many say the same about me. I start with Wishbone Gold (WSBN) then address Lansdowne Oil & Gas (LOGP), UK Oil & Gas (UKOG) and more lack of Turkish Delight for big Dave Lenigas and the other promoters, Eurasia Mining (EUA) and Cellular Goods (CBX) where I am being spammed on Twitter by poltroonish supporters.

  2. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Some sanity from Ireland, madness in the UK and why I smell and the Mrs suffers
I start with the domestic issues caused by the lack of gas and how the Mrs is the real victim after my 18 mile walk yesterday. Think of her sleeping next to a smelly me yesterday, her suffering and then donate to Rogue Bloggers for Woodlarks HERE. In the podcast I discuss Chill Brands (CHLL), Supply@ME Capital (SYME) now valued at almost £100 million, Bidstack (BIDS), Eden Research (EDEN) and Lansdowne Oil & Gas (LOGP).

  3. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Lunch with Ray Ingleby
I start with more on the disaster at More Aquisitions (TMOR) and the roast rat now being served at Doc Holliday towers. Then it is onto a recap of lunch today with colourful entrepreneur Ray Ingelby, discussing Chill Brands (CHLL), his own planned IPO and much more
  4. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - I have a share to buy idea: what am I missing?
The annual weekend from hell looms. Think of my suffering and please donate to Rogue Bloggers for Woodlarks where, with gift aid, we are now over £10,000 but still more than 95% of you have not donated, you can do so HERE. In the podcast I discuss Lucian's suffering at the Supply@ME Capital (FRAUD) teach in and why its shares are collapsing, Versarien (VRS), Tern (TERN), Pan African Resources (PAF), Boohoo, com (BOO) and Revolution Beauty (REVB)

  5. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Dear Jonathan let me explain logic to you, I did not NOT say all Ukrainian women are hookers
Think of my suffering. On June 17 I shall walk 34 miles and be lagging at the back of the pack with my friend Jonathan Price who will have 16 hours to explain to me why Brexit was a disaster, how 17.4million of us are dim or Xenophobic or both and how the fraudster Carole Cadwalladr is the greatest living journalist. Think of my suffering and please donate HERE as we approach ( with gift aid) £10,000 raised for Woodlarks. In today's podcast I discuss Pantheon (PANR) - target price 6p? - BSF Enterprises (BSFA), Versarien (VRS) - shares up 50% today - and Cineworld (CINE), still 100% overvalued. I also look at Cellular Goods (CBX) looking at seaweed to carbon zero technology and referencing THIS ARTICLE.

  6. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: A lesson for Malcolm on "cheap" PEs, Phil Schofield and the real scandal at ITV & Tesco's John Allen and the witchhunt
I start with the suffering I am about to endure at the Chapel holiday camp and urge you to consider the pain and donate to Rogue Bloggers for Woodlarks HERE. Then it is onto Malcolm's earlier piece on PE's and shares and why he may be wrong. Then to what appears to me to be a vile #MeToo witchhunt against Tesco (TSCO) chairman John Allan and then onto ITV (ITV), Phil Schofield and the real scandal and why more heads should roll.
