Following on from this week's results, there are rumblings from Morrisons (MRW) in Bradford: range cuts are coming. This is serious and, if confirmed, mirrors Archie Norman's "Sauna" process of the mid 1990s at Asda.

I cant believe Morrisons can take very much out of their ranges as they are too sparse and few already ………….what went wrong ……simples ………..they tried to take on ASDA clothing with a kiddy cloths range called nutmeg ( I ask you , honestly ) . They ripped out half the food store to make room for the Nutmeg clothing range and nutmegged themselves in the process . The choice of food was drastically reduced . The diy and home ware was cut right back . You know , the stuff people want daily was not there any more . I kid you not, I went in one day “post nutmeg” for a washing up bowl brush . I could not find it and had to ask “ oh we dont sell them any more “ I was told !
Mean while the white elephant ( sorry nutmeg ) dept was empty . In five shopping trips I never saw one single customer in the nutmeg bit of the shop . I said to err in doors “this lot will go bust in a couple of years , they have no idea what they are doing “ The thing is, opposite our Morry store is ALDI where you can buy a washing up brush . The range is now like the morry simplified range post nutmeg …….. BUT alot cheaper . They should have stayed as they were at Morry offering more choice and quality over ALDI . Lets face it ALDI veg is complete shite and so is the meat . But all the prepacked stuff is comparable, so people go there instead now.
lol
I have just written to Morrisons .It is not the prices but the experience.Pop music does not increase sales, just the opposite-get rid.Have enough staff on checkouts-always have to wait.Bring back basket only till -refuse to use self-service.
