Prostate cancer lies twentieth in the ‘league table’ of annual cancer research spend. It kills slightly more men than breast cancer kills women but it gets half the funding. That’s why treatment lags ten years behind breast cancer and many years behind some other forms of cancer. Brian Basham is a legend among journalists
.
Brian was a great reporter on Fleet Street, a legendary PR spinner and a man who always has a fascinating tale over a glass of wine. He is also a friend of mine and a supporter of free speech and this website although he has a few odd views on matters such as Brexit. Anyhow the old boy is on a 10 mile training run as I write. Last weekend it was 16 miles. Next weekend it will be 18. And on 22 April it will be 26 miles 385 yards in the London Marathon.
I expect him to finish sometime on Monday morning just after the guy in the deep sea diving suit. But I am sure he will finish as he is running to raise money for prostate cancer. I normally only give to one charity (Woodlarks) but I take my hat off to someone as old as Brian doing this so will make a small donation to sponsor him this time. It is a good cause after all. If you wish to sponsor Brian you can do so HERE
