I keep having this odd image of Malcolm Stacey. He lives among the heathen celts of Wales and is a self confessed money tree worshipper, an older man with white hair - he is Getafix, the druid from Asterix the Gaul. Getafix heads off into the woods with his sickle to hack away mistletoe to make potions. Malcolm heads off into the woods to hack away at the money tree and then brews up a potion.

may have already been mentioned but you must have recently bought a new headset / microphone. Not sounding too good at this end. Not a techie person or sound engineer, but might be too close to the mouth.
By the way, i hope you make the best use of the time with your father over the coming period and that things go as peacefully as possible. I envy you that time. Mine died before he hit the floor from a massive coronary and many discussions and much guidance was lost. That being said, you seem to have a strong moral compass already to motivate you. Keep up your excellent work when you can.

Yesterday I reminded you of the fact that Ben Harrington from Betaville has not yet had his overdue apology from you for the vicious amount of vitriol you poured on him when he got the Quindell and S&G scoop.
Sad to see that you have once again failed to take the opportunity presented by the bearcast mentioning Quindell to apologise.

I note that you refer to the fact that you have not had an apology from those who abused you but how about you having the balls to apologise to Ben Harrington the Betaville blogger to whom you directed dogs abuse when he got the scoop on the S&G deal? Do you remember what you said about him? You poured an unprecedented amount of vitriol over the poor chap, called his journalistic competency into question (completely trashed him), called him a quisling and were adamant that he was WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!
He turned out to be right but here we are, weeks, months down the line and you still have not been big enough to offer anything by way of the fulsome apology that the chap deserved.
You can’t have it both ways Tom!

Ben Harrington is no journalist he is a stooge of the criminal Rob Terry responsible for disseminating his "information". I congratulate him on relaying Rob Terry’s thoughts and information to the market. As the FCA examines Mr Terry’s emails I will send Ben a box of chocolates for him to share with his pal on a jail visit.

Sorry if this is duplicated – my PC was playing up. Anyway, re, alcoholism, I really think society has got its knickers in a twist for no good reason over this. Don’t get me wrong – people who drink and drive or do so at the expense of neglecting their family (or worse) should be shot, but that’s no reason to demonise this most noble of pursuits.
In respect of this I apply what I term the George Best test: George had a young ex-Miss World in his bed but still went on the lash. If I had a young ex-Miss World in my bed I wouldn’t leave it. Therefore, I am not an alcoholic – just a sucker for a decent malt.

Tom,I know you think you’re totally vindicated over Quindell,and I’m carping by pointing this out,but Quindell shares are suspended right now,and you hadn’t been calling them as a short immediately before the announcement,or indeed,at any time after the Slater and Gordon purchase announcement.

I do like your ‘George Best test’, however I would venture that booze and women, just like the markets, are sometimes not quite as they seem on the surface. I’m not disputing that George was a raving alcoholic, but in his defence, unlike me and you, he would also most likely have had a young ex-Miss World waiting for him in the pub. I shall be raising a chalice of Stella in Georgie’s honour this evening. Some guys have all the luck eh.

I think you are being unfair. All Harrington did was to break the news that S&G had bit for QLS and he got the number just about spot on.
You roundly abused him, called his competence into question and were downright vindictive towards him. As I recall, his scoops were unbiased in slant and merely reported the facts of the transaction.
On that particular issue you made a complete and utter fool of yourself with your rants against Harrington who turned out to be just about spot on.
You rightly crow when you get a scoop right and regularly moan at the lack of apologies from those who abused you when you break stories. All I am saying is that a man of integrity would recognise that you had done a man who was innocently reporting market sensitive news (just like you do) a grave injustice and man up and apologise in the same public way that you villified and slaughtered him in the days following him breaking the story.
I remind you that on the narrow facts of the case he was proven to be spot on.

Sounds quality has been terrible last two days – you’re talking too close to the mic.
I use a cheap (£10 from Ebay) desk mic on a USB, and place it on desk about a foot away from my mouth – works perfectly.

Headset was knackered and held together with duck tape but seemed to work on PC no 2. But had to switch back to PC no 1 and there was a problem. So I have just ventured to go mix with the great unwashed at Argos and have a new headset which seems to work brilliantly with PC No 1 so fingers crossed we are all systems go as of Friday
