Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.
My father enjoys me describing him as a deluded lefty in these podcasts but, today, I out him for some of his reactionary glories. I then move on to New World Oil & Gas, Sefton Resources, and, in detail, Sirius Minerals.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for your defence of Waterloo on your podcast. I have noticed some of the media seem to misrepresent history and conveniently forget just why the battle was fought. Hey ho.
As an aside my partner Lynn loves your podcasts. She has no interest whatsoever in share dealing but greatly enjoys your more scurrilous comments! (And the swearing!) I shall be playing a few more of them to her as we travel across the channel tomorrow. To Waterloo.

Always a good idea to read the whole 230-page report by the North York Moors planning director, rather than rely on news reports by hacks who themselves don’t bother to read the whole report.
The news coverage reads as though the planning director has recommended his committee members to vote against the Sirius potash mine application whereas he – unusually – gave them no direction.
And since most of them rely on prosperity, jobs and votes to keep their job, they are more likely to be influenced by the vox pop. And a survey of almost 2000 people resulted in a 90%-plus vote in favour of the mine. Even when limiting the geographic spread, 82% of respondents who live within the boundary of the national park were in favour of the mine.

Hi Tom,
Will there be a special beat cast on DAN and it’s ramp one day?
Thanks,
(P.S i’m glad as a daily listener you’re still doing more bear casts than I thought being on sabbatical :)

One of the main reasons for victory over the frogs was the currency created by the, then private, Bank of England over and above the amount of gold it had in its vaults employing all those un and under used resources and people. Deficit spending to make a nation Great when the private sector falls short.
Think your Dad might like that little fact.

Tom,
Re NEW
Having failed to listen to probably the only voice of reason (you) at the time, the LSE missed the opportunity to achieve a rational solution – suspend, cancel all trades and make sure no placing shares were traded until after approval at EGM.
I fear there is no solution now that will not either wipe everyone out or leave many innocent people with big losses whilst those of questionable character and motivation line their pockets with ill gotten gains.

I have heard a few things about the people from North Yorkshire, but reading the Guardian would not be one of them.
